So far, IRS is the best of the new stuff I heard and Better sounds like it has some potential, but I'm not getting to carried away b/c it ws only 1:20 sec
But to say Chi Dem is gonna blow Contraband out of the water, and CB sucks compared to the album is getting way, way carried away.? Lisen to Rhiad, Silkworms, and Oh My God just to re-iterate that.? The Blues and maddy are listenable to, but by no means standout or beter than FTP or YGNR or Slither or Set Me Free or Headspace or Big machine or STB (at least that's my opinion as IRS actually resembled a rock song)
I don't want to get into a VR vs. GnR thing
That is funny. You dont want to get into GNR vs VR thing, but thats exactly what you're doing. There needs to be a thread in the VR section for this kind of shit.

Contraband is a good album, it has some very good songs on it. But the new GnR songs are just a little more innovative and edgy in that they have a really unique sound. That's what GnR was always about in the first place anyway, pushing boundaries, songs like "Better" have a really fresh sound that sets them apart from everything else that's being released today. Whereas Contraband was a good rock album but it was very safe, it didn't push any boundaries and they didn't really take a lot of risks

I think Better and Maddie have alot of potential. I was not excited to hear Contraband, although there were a few decent tracks. With Axl, I have always been blown away by something he does.

Actually in my opinion this whole thread (how its titled/what the creator had to say/what other people have said) was loaded from the goddamn start. To get mad at this guy for defending VR but turning a blind eye at the people saying this "blows contraband away" isn't right.
It should be locked (the thread)
If you wanna compare.. fine. But your opinion is your opinion.
I personally enjoy "Better" more than almost all the tracks on Contraband... but thats just me.

you do what people do when commenting on quotes from the band, you focus on one thing and go with it w/out taking te post or quote in context of the whole.
People are going crazy about IRS yet forgetting about some of the lesser quality material that we've heard and assume everything is as good or better than IRS and totally discounting some of the shit we'e heard from the new band as well.
If you bothered to read the next paragraph I went on to say CD and the next VR album BOTH will be better than 99% of the shit released this or next year.
And my opinion is exactly that...my opinion. I could care less what others think. But one good song is only one good song. Better sounded like it had potential and was about to get really god but since I only heard 1;20 sec of it, I'm not comparing it to any finsihed products of other bands.

I wasn't overly impressed with IRS but Better just blew me away!!! the 1:20 clip of it was by far better( excuse the pun) than anything VR has done. God I hope this is a sign of things to come.
