Gibson Guitar Namesake Les Paul, Leaves Hospital
by Mitch Marconi
Feb 16, 2006

Guitar god Les Paul, was released from a New Jersey hospital last Saturday after recovering from pneumonia, according to the Bergen Record.

Paul, who won two Grammys last week , is now home resting and "feeling much better", a spokeswoman for his record company said yesterday.

The 90-year-old guitar legend had been hospitalized for nearly a week with pneumonia, which forced him to miss last Wednesday's Grammy Awards ceremony.

The guitarist, who is still going strong with his three-piece band, was scheduled to perform in an all-star jam session with the likes of Slash and Joe Perry.

Although he wasn't able to attend in person, he did appear via satellite from his hospital bed and participated in the guitar tribute.

Paul is widely respected among all who have ever picked up a guitar. He performs in New York City at a small venue where seeing any other guitar great isn't uncommon. The reporter counts himself among the lucky to have ever had the honor of hearing the man play.

That would have been worth tuning in for.
