i don't think any of this is coincidental:

1) slash mentions twice that CD is out in March

2) Axl has made more public appearences in the last 2 months than in the last 10 years.  pictures, listening parties, and all

3) strange things happening like HTGTH upgrading their servers without explanation and on the day before 3 demo songs are leaked onto the internet

4) being played nationally on Howard Stern

I almost think the leak was intentional by management as a way to promote CD.  I think it's coming out VERY soon (march?) and I think they're trying a different approach to promotion - i.e. using the internet and 'illegal' file sharing rather than conventional media outlets.  I think this is a very brilliant plan.

Well Merck has said to stop all links to downloads and to stop mentioning it so I don't think this was done by management. However, its good publicity for Axl and hes getting a lot of positive reviews. Of course there is a conspiracy theory.

telling people to remove links and not talk about it only makes people want the tracks more, and creates WAY more buzz than if the links were just freely available!

I'd say, just under the circumstances, it's intentional. We go so long without anything, then we get a Rolling Stone interview/article, Axl showing up at parties across the country, Slash actually promoting the album's potential release, then we get 2 songs leaked and one is played on the #1 radio talk show in the country? Something doesn't gel right...

Axl left the mansion , he had a b-day party and got out and enjoyed himself , I wouldnt look more into it then that.

Just a timing issue as far as I'm concerned. The server change was talked about days before last nights leak. The site was down and all. Timing. The GNR moons are all lined up I guess.

Brilliant plan? Leaking 3-4 year old demo songs that dont reflect what the finish product sounds like? Then requesting they be removed and not talked about and sending MIB's out to scare fans and brainwash them?!!  (OK , MAYBE THEY DIDNT SEND OUT MIB'S)

I remember the same hype happened last April witht the IRS leak.  When the leak happened, most everyone assumed that CD would be right behind it.  I am very hopeful for a 06 release, but I'm also realistic.  This has happened before, and I'll wait for an official statement.
