Live!! From Burning Hills, Wellington...

« on: February 15, 2006, 06:50:56 PM »

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, or has been discussed before.

It struck me the other day when listening to 'Origin of Symmetry' by the British band Muse, that from what we've heard CD described as, they could well be very much in line with Axls vision. Queen like arrangments? Check. Bombastic epics? Check. Intricate, elaborate musicianship? Check. Operatic vocal histrionics? Check. Hard modern - rockers that infuse technology and other modern influences? Check.

Muse are a great band. I dont think they've really become noticed in the States, but from what I hear, they're pretty big in Europe now. I wonder if Axl is a fan?

Personally, when I listen to Muse, I hear what I imagine CD might be like. Anyone feel the same?

Not that much. They were pretty big 2 years ago, but not that much now. NOTHING compared to U2 or Oasis.
Right now, Coldplay is pretty big in Europe with their album X&Y.

Oh, I thought this was going to be about a band who released too many albums.

I actually saw Muse open for Velvet Revolver here in Atlanta in December 2004. I was in the front row, and their performance blew me away. Seriously. It was amazing. I went and bought "Absolution" a couple of days later and still enjoy it.

I see them as a modern-day Queen. Not nearly as musical or complex but then again, nobody is. I see Axl's new stuff having a little more rock n' roll edge, but besides that, I agree with your comparison.

I realise they're not as big as U2 and Coldplay. That wasn't the point, the point was that their sound is similar to what we've heard CD might sound like

I saw them once at the Big Day Out, really great band. Live show was amazing too. As for Muse being a band Axl would like? Yeah I can see where you're coming from, it's probably true, it seems to be similar to the direction Axl described CD going in.

I love Muse, one of my top 10. But right now, with those leaks, I don't think it's gonna sound much like Muse...

anyone who hasnt seen muse should seriously check them out. they are very big in the uk with popularity reaching a high with their glastonbury headline performance in 2004 - they really stole the weekend!

check out the dvd of that performance if u can!

the reason theyre not in the public eye at the mo is cuz theyve obviously just finished their tour and promotion for their 2004 album absolution!
