I've only ever had cats cause my parents both worked full time.  I begged them for a dog all through my childhood but they (rightly) didn't budge.  I love them both - cats are probably cooler but the endless affection that you get from a dog is totally unique.

Seeing as it's lame when people reply with "they're both great", I will say that dogs are just a little bit better.  They're more fun and energetic, basically.

If you simply want a room mate  then get a cat but if you want a child then a dog is in order.I am kind of backwards about this:  I have a pure bred cat (Persian) and a mutt dog.

Same here. I always loved dogs and wanted one but my parents would never let me have one. I had cats, though. I think both animals are great but I think I'd be more of a dog person. Dogs are more affectionate and love to play. Cats are more indepedent. I prefer an animal that loves to play and is affectionate over the independent animals.

I'll say cats. They're more mellow. My little dog drives me crazy. He has a high-pitched loud bark, and unfortunately he barks constantly. And he's vicious toward strangers, well actually towards everybody, unless you have food. I love him though.

I can't be in a house with pet cats that have shedding fur, I'm allergic to them but there is one breed I can be around. I believe they're called like bengal cats that don't shed. My cousin has two.


But still, I'm a dog person, I will not live in a house without a dog.

Both are great. But I am more of a cat person myself, I have had like 10 cats all have dissapeard or ran over like the last one who was hit by a car in the 1. of July last year. The damn bastard just left his body lying on the street ? Now he's buried in my back yard? ? (The cat not the bastard who killed him).

cats are so much better, dogs are so stupid, you could pretend to throw something and a dog would fall for it everytime, a cat will fall for it like 2 times and then stop. cats dont bark, they dont need to be walked, the dont need to be let out all the time, they dont need as much attention, they dont eat as much and really have you ever heard of a cat killing someone??

In my opinion, dogs care about their owners more than cats. If I fall and get hurt or something like that, my dog gets worried and makes sure I'm ok again.
