True. But haven't female athletes always been judged by their looks? Its why hot pieces of ass like Mia Hamm, Marion Jones, Anna Kournikova, Serena Williams, Martina Hingis, Tara Lipinski,etc. get all the attention and the huge amounts of money. If they weren't attractive, nobody would care, nobody would watch, and these girls wouldn't make any money. A sad but true fact.

Not to sound like Gloria Steinem, but can't you find a more respectful term other than "hot pieces of ass"? 

Those women you mentioned are attractive, but they had to work very hard to get where they are today. And it is sad to know that no matter what a woman accomplishes in her life, it'll somehow be over-shadowed by her physical appearance.

Yeah, they definitely have to work their asses off, but their looks play an even bigger role than their talent. An example: In the late 90's, one of my cousins used to stay with me sometimes, and she was a big gymnastics fan. When it was on, we would watch it. I quickly noticed something. The really cute gymnasts always got high scores and the not so cute ones got lower scores even if they had a basically mistake free routine. The "not so cute" girls quickly faded into obscurity, while the cute ones went on to win national titles, world championship medals, olympic medals,etc. It basically comes down to the golden rule that "sex sells".Who is everyone likely to salivate over and buy products that they endorse, Mia Hamm or the twin sister of the wicked witch of the west? This is just a by-product of the culture we live in. There are some exceptions to this "hot pieces of ass" rule, examples being Kerri Strug, Lisa Leslie, and a few lesbian tennis players.
