An old school pic of Ian and Axl, circa '87...

Nice photo -- look at Ian's hair. Shocked

Too bad it's before YouTube, it would be cool to hear what they said.

It was from a jam session in a bar in NYC, the same night The Cult and GNR did some spur of the moment recording at Electric Lady Studios - unfortunately the session never surfaced.

So Guns N' Roses recorded with The Cult, I didn't know that.  This would be something to hear. yes

The Cult are confirmed for the "Sinners Day Out Festival" Oct 30 in Belgium

http://www.sinnersday.com/content/line-up

Not sure who'll be subbing behind the kit for Johnny Tempesta while he's guesting with Testament, odds are Matt Sorum or Scott Garrett will get the call.

Matt is selling The Cult's "Beyond Good And Evil" drums, last chance to get them...

Up for auction is a set (being sold individually) of DW 24x18 Maple Bass Drums owned and used by Matt Sorum (Velvet Revolver, Guns N' Roses, The Cult, Diamond Baby) on The Cult's "Beyond Good and Evil" Tour. Both drum heads have been signed by Matt with his signature and "The Cult."

Looks like Johnny will indeed be with The Cult for this and the Formula 1 gig, per edcult at www.cultcentral.com

I've really just started getting in to these guys over the past year, and they've quickly become one of my all-time favorites!

^^Falcon maybe you can answer this...I don't have any music from The Cult, just what I've heard either streaming or on YouTube.  I obviously like GN'R and I really did like "Ghost".  What CD from The Cult would you suggest.

"Pure Cult" is probably the best way to go, all the hits.  Downside is it only takes you through '94.

If you're looking for the most easily digestable, "Electric" is the choice.

Thanks for the recommendation.  After looking at both CDs on Amazon, I decided to order "Pure Cult" -- I also ordered someone else's new CD as well. Lips Sealed

I'll let you know what I think, but I promise not to do a comparison. Smiley

It looks like Matt Sorum was unable to sell The Cult's "Beyond Good and Evil" Tour drums on eBay (he got a few offers).  So if anyone has an extra $2,599.99 for each, they're still available.

I'll also add to make sure that you get the remastered versions.

The original CD pressing of "Electric" is a very tough listen fidelity wise.

Matt has put The Cult's "Beyond Good and Evil" Tour drums back on eBay, but he's reduced the price to $2,250.00 for each.

The difference between the original and remastered pressings is literally like night and day.

One of the most interesting guys in music, Eagles Of Death Metal's Jesse Hughes hanging out with Ian Astbury talking women in rock:
