Good news from Ian this morning regarding more new Cult material:

On the back of the capsule releases and unprecedented demand from The Cult faithful, The Cult announce they are back in the studio with "Grand Master" Chris Goss at the controls once again.

More will be revealed with the new recordings soon, expect a release in the early fall.

I feel we have reached our zenith in terms of our writing and performing skills. We intend to deliver on all levels. IAN ASTBURY

Will this be another "capsule" or a CD?

No official word although I don't think it will be a tradional album so to speak.

The capsules proved to be a huge success financially - limited quantities/huge demand but had their growing pains in proper delivery.

I wouldn't be surprised if they add a few more new tunes to the capsule releases and release some sort of compilation
in multiple formats..

A word from Ed Donelly - CEO with Aderra, The Cult's business partner for the Capsule projects and recent live recordings:

"Capsules 1 & 2 have been a great success. EMAWIAS hit number one in Spain, Top 5 in in The Netherlands and top 40 in the U.S. and UK. A tough feat for any rock band these days. We sold out of Capsule 1 and the Limited Edition Vinyl in half the time we projected it would take and Capsule 2 is nearly sold out as well. While the music is the most important thing of course we are proud that the packaging for the Capsule 2 CDs has been nominated for a design award. All in all it has been a fantastic project and surpassed all of our plans and expectations by light years.
I appreciate all of you that have supported our efforts."

You were right, it has done well.  Maybe they have something here with this "capsule" concept -- especially if it gets the music released faster.

It does appear to have been a smart move.

No leaks, great sales, well received by US radio, chart and  tour success etc.

That said, I'm not sure Billy was fully engaged in the process - much more of an Ian concept..

A very cool/interesting interview with former "Electric" era Cult touring bassist Dr. Stephen "Haggis" Harris (billed as "The Kid" with The Cult) can be read below.

Tons of insight on his time with Zodiac Mindwarp, The Cult and the great Four Horsemen along with his memories of touring alongside AFD era GNR and his one time fill in show with GNR subbing for Duff.

The Cult will be partnering with Cooking Vinyl for their next release:

http://www.musicweek.com/story.asp?storycode=1045052

Cooking makes Cult signing

11:00 | Thursday April 28, 2011
By Robert Ashton
Cooking Vinyl has signed The Cult and made a couple of new signings on the back of meetings at SXSW earlier this year.

The Cult, who toured their Love Live Tour last year and also recorded a four track release with Chris Goss, are expected to record a new album shortly with the same producer.

The indie outfit has also signed City and Colour aka Dallas Green from Canadian outfit Alexisonfire. City and Colour has signed a new deal for the UK and Europe and will release a new album, Little Hell, on June 7.

The label has also signed hard rockers Cerebral Ballzy, whose debut album is expected later this summer. Already signed to Adult Swim in the US, Cerebral Ballzy will appear at Camden Crawl this weekend.
