Rumor has it Billy actually broke out a Fender for a tune, that hasn't happened since early 1995.
And lets hope it never happens again God damnit.

The new Cult tune "EMBERS" debuted live in San Diego 9/14/10 can be viewed here:

It's a Duffy tune all the way, albeit played on a damn Fender..

Although it's a bit odd seeing Bill with anything but the Falcon or Les Paul, I have to say the tone of that Tele suits the new song.

Agreed, but a
very
odd visual indeed.
The last time he played anything but a Les Paul or a White Falcon live with The Cult was on "Edie" and "The Black Sun" (A Strat) on the '94/'95 "Beauty's on the Streets" Tour..

He played the Strat on Sacred Life on that tour too. I've got a dvd of them playing in Barcelona back in 1995 & he uses it there. I read once that Johnny Marr said to Billy that it just looked wrong onstage when he played the Strat. I know that Billy tends to use a few more guitars when recording but just uses the Les Pauls and the Gretsch live nowadays.

Yep, he sure did.
If I remember correctly, "Sacred Life" was only played a few times on that tour.
I've heard the same story regarding Marr as well - gotta say I agree with Johnny 100%.

I'd love to hear more guitar stuff from Billy & Johnny together. The song North is fantastic. Nice mix of Billy's alt rock riffs and Johnny's famous jangle. The Good, The Bad And The Ugly theme that they recorded a few years back was great too.

An educated guess would say so although nothing concrete just yet.

Think I'll download the capsule after payday. Would love to have the physical thing itself but I'm not paying $30
to get it shipped to Scotland.

Agreed on all points.
Those two are generally considered the most influential players of the post punk scene in England, anything they do together would be worth a listen for sure.
