Thanks for posting.  The Madonna answer surprised me, that would be something to see.  Too bad he can't say more about the upcoming plans.

And will there be a Cult tour announcement?

I think we may some "additional dates" surrounding the 4 already announced but thats about it.

I don't expect them to go on anymore extended outings anytime soon, if ever.

Apr. 23, 2009

Legendary rock 'n roll icon Lemmy (MOT?RHEAD) will join The Fuel Girls for the first few days of the 11th annual Gumball 3000 rally, the world-famous celebrity rally which has previously taken place in Europe, Thailand and China. This year, the rally, called "Coast to Coast," will take place in the U.S. from May 1 through 8, 2009, with Jay Leno dropping the start line flag at the Santa Monica Pier.

Lemmy and The Fuel Girls will depart on Saturday, May 2, and drive through the various checkpoints onto Las Vegas on Saturday, where the party Saturday night will be at the Hard Rock Hotel (The Joint 2), kicking off with a live performance by THE CULT.

Eight days, seven states and 3000 miles later ? with a huge beach party that will run from sunrise to sunset ? Miami's Ocean Drive will be literally littered with hundreds of locally owned supercars to welcome the weary yet intrepid Gumballers. In addition, numerous racetracks will open their gates to allow the world's finest supercars a (legal) opportunity to really be put through their paces.

Other celebrity drivers include David Hasselhoff, "Jackass"'s Bam Margera and Ryan Dunn, extreme sports stars Tony Hawk, Danny Cass, and Dave Mirra, Brit indie stars THE ENEMY, U.K. TV's Dirty Sanchez, recording artists THE CULT, AVENGED SEVENFOLD and THE CUBAN BROTHERS, fashion trendsetters Team Rogue Status, Eddie Cruz of UNDFTD, and Team Puma driving alongside numerous Playboy Playmates and models, including Caprice, making the 2009 Gumball 3000 rally all the more stylish and beautiful! It has also just been announced that Mika Salo, F1 driver and reigning 24 Hours of Le Mans GT2 champion will be driving the rally in his Ferrari GT2 430. This adds to Gumball's tradition of having professional racing drivers on the rally.

Gumball3000 route:

* May 1 - Registration, an A-list headline live performance on the Third Street Promenade, a huge car display and kick off exclusive VIP party at the Viceroy.
* May 2 - L.A. to Vegas - Start Line mid-day at the Santa Monica Pier
* May 3 - Vegas to Grand Canyon
* May 4 - Grand Canyon to Santa Fe
* May 5 - Santa Fe to Dallas
* May 6 - Dallas to New Orleans
* May 7 - New Orleans to Orlando
* May 8 - Orlando to Miami - arriving 5 PM for Car Display & Beach and Car Festival
* May 6 - Dallas to New Orleans
* May 7 - New Orleans to Orlando

Cult, Rise Against whip up early frenzy at Music Fest

Ian Astbury, lead singer of The Cult, controlled the stage despite a bad leg.

The gods of rock and weather smiled down on the 33rd annual Beale Street Music festival with one of the driest opening nights in recent memory. in fact, the only fleeting drops of rain that came down helped create a fittingly atmospheric mist as British goth-rockers The Cult emerged onto the Sam?s Town stage for Friday?s first big-name set.

The five-piece band, led by founding members, singer Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy, delivered a succession of surefire crowd pleasers from their three-decade deep catalog.

Cleary, it was Astbury ? dressed in his requisite black headband, shades, and carrying a cane to aid a bad leg -- and his powerful shamanistic persona who controlled the stage.

Still, much of the band?s musical appeal rested in the guitar interplay between lead six-string man Duffy and rhythm ace Mike Dimkich, as the two traded razor-wire riffs back and forth ? indulging in what Keith Richards once described as ?the ancient form of weaving

Review and setlist from Memphis courtesy of www.cultcentral.com and forum user "snake".

"It looked a lot like rain just before the band came out but the rain held off and went around us to the north. It turned out to be a very beautiful night with temperatures in the mid-60s. When The Cult came out I noticed that Ian was limping and using a cane to help him walk. He said a little later in the show that he had been in the hospital 7 weeks ago and that he still wasn't 100%. Ian was wearing a black leather jacket, black pants, black headband, and sunglasses. They opened the show with "Electric Ocean"! This was the first time I had gotten to hear this song live. They then went right inti "Lil' Devil". The crowd was great and was rocking from the very start. The next song was "Sweet Soul Sister" followed by "Dirty Little Rock Star".

Billy then strapped on his white Gretsch guitar and the band played "Edie (Caio Baby)". "Rain" was the next song followed by "Fire Woman". Before playing it Billy said that he guaranteed that the crowd would love their next song. Ian then said that their next song was for the young people in the crowd and the band played "Rise". The crowd was really going by this point. They then played "Illuminated" from Born Into This. Ian asked how many people had the Born Into This album and thanked the members of the Cult fan posse for their support. He also asked how many in the crowd were "Cult virgins" and several raised their hands. "Wild Flower" was the next song followed by "She Sells Sanctuary". The crowd went crazy on these songs. The band then left the stage and the crowd went nuts and they came back out and played "Love Removal Machine" much to the delight of the crowd. Ian then introduced the band to the crowd, thanked the fans for coming, picked up his cane and left the stage with the rest of the band."

Setlist;
Electric Ocean
Lil' Devil
Sweet Soul Sister
Dirty Little Rockstar
Edie (Ciao Baby)
Rain
Fire Woman
Rise
Illuminated
Wild Flower
She Sells Sanctuary

Encore: Love Removal Machine
