Finally got around to buying Born Into This, and I found the 2-disc Savage Edition. On first listen it's pretty cool, nothing that outstanding, but some tasty guitar riffing here and there! ok

I think I preferred Beyond Good & Evil, but I'll give this new one a few more listens.

Give it a few more spins, I think you'll find it a very strong collection of songs with the standouts
being Born Into This, Diamonds, Dirty Little Rockstar, I Assassin, Savages and Sound Of Destruction.

It's an entirely different animal than BG&E, less being more in every sense.

IN FLAMES, THE CULT, W.A.S.P., OPETH Confirmed For Sweden's PEACE & LOVE Festival - Feb. 1, 2008

IN FLAMES, THE CULT, W.A.S.P., OPETH, CLUTCH, MILLENCOLLIN, THE 69 EYES, DARK TRANQUILLITY and WOLF have been confirmed for the Peace & Love festival, set to take place June 23-28, 2008 in Borl?nge, Sweden. Also scheduled to appear are THE HAUNTED, ENTOMBED, HARDCORE SUPERSTAR, THE HELLACOPTERS and the SEX PISTOLS, among others.

Peace & Love celebrates its 10th anniverary in 2008 and the festival organizers have promised a bigger and better event than in previous years.

In 2007, 20,000 festival passes sold out three weeks before the event took place, setting the stage for what turned out to be the biggest Peace & Love festival in history.

This album requires a little time to grow on you. But once it does, it sticks.

This is a strange line up to say the least, not sure how The Cult and The Pistols found their way onto the bill..

This is a bit bizarre, but what the fuck...

AUSTRALIAN ROCK TWO-PIECE BugGiRL dedicated a song to Ian Astbury, singer / songwriter extraordinaire for THE CULT

With the new release of 'Rock n' Roll Hell' in 2007, the Australian power-duo unleash to the world a supercharged force of Guitar, Drums and vocals blazing down the Highway to Hell. Born of road-killing fire and Sydney sleaze n' strip-tease, 'Rock n' Roll Hell' is THE soundtrack to blues, bruise and booze.

This is from their MySpace blog:
"And NOW we introduce you to IAN ASTBURY, our new mutha of all rock anthems, swivellin its hips and a strappin' on that shiny scarf for your rockin pleasure ... listen, pump the air, and enjoy. "

A bit of unconfirmed news from www.cultcentral.com

It looks as though "Illuminated" will be the second single from "Born Into This".

Interesting..

I'd love to see The Cult at The Forum, it's a great venue - I saw a couple of shows there in the 90s, and perfect for their kind of show.

A bit of rock history revisited Friday night in London when post punk/gothic legends Theatre Of Hate opened for The Cult.

Billy Duffy got up wth his former bandmates (Billy was in TOH before forming The Death Cult with Ian) and played the classic "Do You Believe In The Westworld?"

Take a look:

Great interview with Ian Astbury can be found here:

One of the most insightful articles I've ever read with Ian, gives a great look at what he's all about - definitely on a different plane of intellect.

A brief GNR/Axl mention as well..

Funny coming from you.  Tongue

Despite what Ian says, I never considered GN'R part of the hair metal scene.

Poison, Warrant, Winger. I just don't see GN'R part of that any more than The Cult.
