I'm a llama!

« on: January 17, 2006, 10:27:54 PM »

Axl mentions this book, and the upcoming movie in the interview.  I wonder if there is a possibility of GNR putting a song on the soundtrack.  The movie does not have a release date yet, and I didn't see if/when a soundtrack would be available.  I don't even know if there would be time to get a song in for the movie, but just a thought.

I just checked and the movie comes out March 26th.  I know the album won't be out by then, but maybe the first single could be for this, and on the soundtrack.

Basically: Drugs and the police department closing in on drug dealers, users, undercover cops, etc. It takes place in the future, and assumes some pretty interesting things. It's a short book, pick it up and read it, you won't be disappointed. The same author wrote 'Minority Report'.

About the Film:
"A Scanner Darkly" is set in suburban Orange County, California in a future where America has lost the war on drugs. When one reluctant undercover cop is ordered to start spying on his friends, he is launched on a paranoid journey into the absurd, where identities and loyalties are impossible to decode. It is a cautionary tale of drug use based on the novel by Philip K. Dick and his own experiences.
Like a graphic novel come to life, "A Scanner Darkly" will use live action photography overlaid with an advanced animation process (interpolated rotoscoping) to create a haunting, highly stylized vision of the future. The technology, first employed in Richard Linklater?s 2001 film "Waking Life," has evolved to produce even more emotional impact and detail.

The movie comes out July 2006.

The rumors said the producers previewed the movie to some people... They thought it was a great movie, but the soundtrack sucked. So, the other rumors says Radiohead would be doing the soundtrack...

I dunno if both are true, though. I guess it's possible to have a GN'R track on this movie. Smiley

I highly doubt GN'R will be on this soundtrack. He only said he liked the book.

Radiohead would be 100% perfect for the soundtrack. If you've read the book, you'd understand that.

Graham Reynolds has told Splat that Guns N'Roses will not be featuring on the soundtrack to the forthcoming movie, "A Scanner Darkly". Graham will be composing music for the soundtrack to the movie which is due out on July 6th 2006.

Axl Rose had earlier mentioned the book/film to Rolling Stone magazine sparking rumors that Guns N'Roses could feature on the soundtrack to the movie.

Now that everyone knows that Axl reads, I'm surprised no one has started a 'Books You Recommend to Axl' thread.
