We can confidently say 'Not for long...'.

As for Dave, I think he's cool. If Slash picked him, then he must be pretty good. Time will tell.

Izzy had a few writing sessions with Slash, Duff and Matt pre-Contraband.

yeah I knew about that.... but where did scott say it was too GNR?
Just believe it, he did say so, atleast he said something like it's "too classic rock for him". No one wants to go thru 1000345 interviews.

scott did that many interviews?Huh wow that is a lot.? Ok I will just believe everything I hear from now on? ok

Slash said that the VR work with Izzy is the best instrumental GN'R album to date, he said it sounded like GN'R. Izzy's stuff is classic rock / aka GN'R

Dave is great both live and studiowise.
besides, he wrote Illegal I Song (not the lyrics of course) and it's an awesome song imo!

I didn't like him until I saw him live, and he is a very good guitarist.  Does a lot more than just play chords.  I saw the HDnet concert and he was playing the hell out of each song.

He's a REALLY nice guy, but I honest to God can't "hear" him on Contraband, so I don't have a very clear way of telling if he's great or just mediocre (or anywhere in between). I don't know how much he contributed to the song writing process either. There's a lot of talent in this band, and it sounds superficial (and well, it is), but I'd rather they just went with an okay rhythm player with a kick ass rock n' roll image. He sticks out like a sore thumb against Scott, Slash, Duff, and Matt, and for the wrong reason. That being said, it isn't that big of a deal, and live, he handles himself well.

I really, really dislike the pedals and effects Dave brought to Contraband. Maybe it is time to bring Izzy Stradlin into the band. I know Scott supposedly wasnt comfortable with the riffs Izzy came up with because it was too GNR, but Daves playing isnt exactly earth shattering either..its much worse. But VR should try to stay away from the modern sound Dave is going for. After 3 weeks i got tired of it.? crying

So why did Velvet Revolver use Izzy's riff from "Bomb" (opening track from Like A Dog) on Do It For The Kids?

Also, re: that Axl quote in your signature, is Axl referring to Slash wanting to take power off Izzy, which would lead to Slash killing the band... or Izzy taking power off Slash, which would lead to Izzy killing the band?
