The legendary guitarist said that he does have some contact with Guns n' Roses singer Axl Rose, however.

Rhiyadh is the capital of Saudi Arabia, and Bedouinds were like nomads, right? That's all I know.

Why not?
I think the song is, like Chinese, about frustration and illusions.

I think it has something to do with people who challenged Axl.

To me, it seems like the song is about being an outcast.  Bedouins are shunned by modern day Rhiyadh, with its technology and such.  They bedouins are also considered nomads and kooks by others.  I would compare the bedouins of Saudia Arabia to the amish in America.  Some same principles, but the bedouins have historically had it harder economicaly.  I won't bore you all anymore with bedouin history, but a colleague wrote a thesis on Saudia Arabian religion and politics in 1990 or 1991.  I had to ask him all about this stuff when I first heard the song in Vegas  Grin

Riyadh

Riyadh and the Bedouins
Had a plan and thought they'd win
But I don?t give a fuck bout them
Cause I am crazy

All my salvation
And all my frustrations
Caught in the lies
No one I love is well Huh
Somewhere in time
Where only I can tell

Riyadh and the Bedouins
So that?s the world that you came in
I ain?t had enough of them
Who can blame me?

Half the time you never win
Nomads and barbarians
I won?t bend my will to them, you ag-gra-vate me
My salvation
And all my frustrations
Caught in the lie
No one I love is well??
Somewhere in time
Where only I can tell

All my salvation
And all, my frustrations
Caught in the lies
If you?re at home as well?
Somewhere in time
There only I can tell

No one I love is well??

I always thought it was "no one I loathe has webbed", in relation to a web of lies.

Dave, this is one of the main reasons I dislike this song. Axl has trouble with the lyrics at every performance, and he sounds horrible each time he attempted to sing it. The music of the song is great, but Axl drags it down everytime he opens his mouth during the song. I dont know what it is about the song to make him do such a horrible job. But if he cant fix the lyric/vocal problems on Riyadh, I would prefer that it be an instrumental on the album.

Its HOB, isn't it? Yeah, its the best version I've heard, but is still severely lacking in the vocal/lyrics department. If Axl is having the same trouble coming up with quality lyrics to the other songs as he's had with Riyadh, the long wait makes even more sense. The music to Riyadh is pretty damn good, and coming up with lyrics to fit the "mood" of the song was probably difficult. The song is missing something. I also feel the same in concern to Madagascar. Great music, and some decent lyrics, but in Madagascar he repeats the same lines too much. He needs to add something to the song, or leave it off the album. CD seems a little incomplete also. Its like he's trying to convey different things at the same time in the span of a few minutes. Although I do love that song. The Blues seems to be the only song that could be considered flawless out of the songs we've heard. Although I'm sure a Slash solo could compliment the song very well.  ok

Oh I thought you meant vocals as in his voice quality not lyrics.  I think so far most of the lyrics tothe new songs are very good like madagascar, the blues, cd and IRS.
