Interesting, Weiland the featured artist for this episode.

"The show, featuring Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver together on the same stage, will take place at Atlantic City, New Jersey?s Trump Taj Mahal on August"

It'll be interesting to watch how this thing takes shape, alot of things can happen in 8 months
so I'll look forward to it with tempered enthusiasm.

That being said, the thought of VR and STP sharing a stage with Weiland acting the ringleader is a very exciting proposition.

VH1 Classic will tape an episode of "Decades Rock Live!" dedicated to singer Scott Weiland (VELVET REVOLVER, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS) on August 18, 2006, according to the VH1 web site. The show, which will take place at Atlantic City, New Jersey?s Trump Taj Mahal, will feature VELVET REVOLVER and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS together on the same stage for the first time.

Weiland had previously participated in the "Decades Rock Live!" dedicated to singer Cyndi Lauper. The program, which is scheduled to air on January 1, 2006 at 12:00 a.m., was taped on November 11 at the Trump Taj Mahal Resort & Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. Scott sang three songs ("Barbarella", "Money Changes Everything" and "Time After Time") with Cyndi Lauper during the show, although it is not yet known which of these songs will be included in the final broadcast. Other artists that performed included Shaggy, Pat Monahan (TRAIN), Ani DiFranco. Check out pictures from the taping at Wire Image.

The "Decades Rock Live!" series is a collection of tributes to artists who have shaped and influenced music over the past several decades, generally including artists the guest of honor picks as influences and more modern acts that have been influenced by the honoree.

I've been to many concerts, I went to see STP during the 4 tour and they played for over 3 hours.  It was the best concert by far that I have ever seen.  Go if you have the chance.

Okay, here it is, a possibility of a one off show with GNR that doesn't hurt anyone's feelings.  Now that Weiland has made the move first to bond with his old band, it now means he can't beotch if Slash, Matt, and Duff do the same with Axl should the opportunity arise.

I doubt that will happen, what you need to remember is that STP's break up wasn't out of hatred or whatever, at the time it was just referred to as a "prolonged break" or something along those lines, so it seems there was no spite involved.

Anyways, this is an interesting piece, is there plans to show it on VH1 in UK and Ireland? If so I'll be lookin forward to it.

You are right Jamie, however, Scott has kind of made fun of Axl before, where as Slash, Duff, and Matt have only said nice things about STP.  I am just saying, at the 2007 Rock and Roll hall of fame award show, when GNR gets inducted, they can play together as a band and it would be cool.

GN'R is only eligible for the hall of fame in 2012. It's 25yrs after Appetite not 20...unfortunately that seems to be the only legitimate chance of them playing together again

Not only that, but as screwed up as the voting committee is at the HOF, who says that GNR won't be inducted the first year?

Seems like the Stone Temple Pilots reunion was just a hoax.

http://boards.atlanticrecords.com/artists/stonetemplepilots

Also the show has been removed from Decades Rock Live website.

Ah that sucks, I wonder how the whole rumour got out then, our if it was initially planned, how it fell apart, because VH1 is usually a pretty reliable source, except of course for the Nov 04 comments on CD, but that's another discussion.
