Favourite musical ''era''?

I was looking through my collection and realised that well over 50% of my albums are from the 7 years from 1987-1994 (purely by coincidence the GNR years..)

Later era hair metal and grunge are my fav musical styles (how many can say that?), and form the bulk of my collection

Whats your favourite era or set of years (and don't say 1900-2005 or include 3 decades.... )

Mine too...I must say between 89 and 95. Not just because GNR ruled the world in those years, but also because mainstream bands that I like and grew up listen to made it big; Pearl Jam, Green Day, Alice in Chains and even Oasis.

Don't let me forget, the two bands that influenced grunge were active in that time frame as well; The Pixies and Dinosaur Jr.

1976-1979: Albums like Nevermind The Bollocks (Sex Pistols), The Ramones, Rocket To Russia, It?s Alive (Ramones), London Calling (The Clash), Jailbreak, Live And Dangerous (Thin Lizzy), Parallel Line, Eat To The Beat (Blondie) came out.

Early 80?s: Albums like Like A Virgin and Thriller were released. And 1st Metallica album was relesed in that time too..

1991: Amazing year! Blood Sugar Sex Magic (RHCP), Nevermind (Nirvana), The Black Album (Metallica) UYI I & II (GNR) were released. Those are very important for me. I was 12 years old, and i started to love and live rock music.

2001-2005: Great bands like Backyard Babies, Turbonegro, Monster Magnet, Audioslave, Hellacopters, QOTSA, Green Day, Foo Fighters and Libertines have made one or two amazing albums at this era!

I would have to say 1984-92

I have to say late 80s -early 90s. GNR, U2, Metallica, Alica Cooper, AC/DC,Aerosmith, Ozzy, Queen, even Bon Jovi, all had great albums in that period.

Coincidence or not, this era started with GNR and died along with Freddie Mercury and GNR

1967-1972: The Beatles best work, Lennon's early solo albums, Hendrix, the Stones, Cream, Jefferson Airplane, the Doors, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Love, Janis Joplin, Mountian, MC5.

1991-1994-Illusion albums, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Mudhoney, Tori Amos, NIN.

1978-1995. The late 70's saw metal explode; it became faster, more aggressive, and better. In the 80's, there was thrash metal, grindcore, speed metal, power metal, heavy metal... Hell, the whole genre matured! In the early 90's, death metal and black metal hit their creative peaks. After 1995, it all seemed to get old and tired out. Lots of bands broke up or became mediocre in the mid 90's.

Lately, things are getting better. Metalcore is controversial, but it's amazing live, and power metal is currently very healthy.

1969-1972 - For Aerosmith, Led Zep, and classic rock.
1984-1992 - For most things GN'R, AC/DC and the like.

late 60s-70s - Beatles, Hendrix, Sabbath, Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, The Who, and many other great bands all either started or were at their best around these times.

For instance Queen make a debut album, later was Kiss, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Guns N Roses, Megadeth, Helloween. Those bands till early 90's to late 90's made great records
And at the end of 1998 begening of 1999 pop music begun to take a great step in music.

So my personal fave era would be those years, of course I didnt existed between 1973 till 22 days later of 1980, but according the music I've heard that could've been nice
