The beauty of taking stabs in the dark is that eventually you'll hit something ok

I think we will hear
1) Tommy quit GNR

If the 'GNR news' is about a tour but CD is not ready.
Then We'll be updated with a new cancellation letter - "The band has been put in an untenable position by bassist Tommy and his untimely departure."

Or

2) an announcement about a new release, A Single or an album or both.

Even if 1),  no worries. He will be back when we hear 2).

Cheesy Im sure there wont be anything negative.. I see no reason.
If Tommy were to quit GNR. He would have left long time ago..

Why? the horse seems alright to me. Huh

A couple of shows Tommy is doing with Soul Asylum have been posted.
Also if you check out soulasylum.com you'll see the new band promo
shot with Tommy in it.

Tommy will probably be updating after the holidays. He's very busy.

GNR news: You'll have to wait for Tommy.

Like nytunz n others said, there's nothing negative in this bit. it Sounds healthy.

Some of you would look at "Tommy was diagnosed with terminal cancer today after slipping into a coma" as positive.? I can hear it now, "Maybe his coma will let him some time to relax and regroup."? Eventually we're going to have to accept the fact that no one in this band has a fucking clue as to what's going on.? Tommy's big update was probably stemmed from all the rumors we heard and now he knows it was bogus just like we do.? I want this album to come out as much as anyone but how long do we wait for Axl to finish it before we accept that he really is a nutjob.? It kills me to come to that realization, but years of hopes and letdowns are all we have as fans.? Face it, Axl is surrounded by yes men who have a good thing going and they aren't gonna rock the boat to ruin it.? Axl let's them tour on their own and provides them with a free paycheck, who in their mind would fuck that sweet deal up.? You can only say the word "soon" so many times before you realize maybe it's a hoax.

he won`t quit gnr. you just can`t make the fans hoping for a '06 release and than quit the band (even before '06). i think soul asylum is for tommy similar as nena for richard. a job and a way to spend his time....? ? ? if tommy will quit gnr in late '06 if nothing had happened is another question.... but i don`t think so...

we have to take this for what it`s worth......no news except tommy is busy at the moment...and this could mean a lot. we read to much between the lines at the moment. we need a statement from axl......... beer

his quitting wouldn't be a Soul Asylum Vs GnR kind of decision.
It would be hard evidence that Chinese Democracy is nowhere in sight, the new GnR is not a functioning unit, and that possibly his contract with axl is up and he's done waiting around.
I have no idea if that's what's true (and I still think it will be good news) but with what's happened the past 3 years (virtually nothing) I wouldn't be at all surprised.

it definitely would be a gnr Vs soul asylum kind of decision. there`s no reason to quit gnr. he gets paid (even if not at the moment) and will earn shitloads of money when they actually tour and release the record.
he has to decide between gnr and soul asylum. he doesn`t lose anything when he stys in gnr and i don`t think he will leave because of the wait....  perhaps in some years if still nothing has happened.

but as i said in my previous post. we shouldn`t read to much into it. the webmaster just didn`t know shit. and so he didn`t speak about gnr.
and the promo shot seems to be for the gigs he played/will play with soul asylum...   all we need is just a little patience and we`ll know what happens

What I meant was that tommy has put a ton of time and energy into GnR, and obviously he would want to follow through on his commitment and be part of this great CD and unbelievable live band if and when the time comes.
Soul Asylum isn't in the same league as GnR obviously, and I don't think the mere chance of having an opportunity to join Soul Asylum permanently would cause him to leave GnR.
He will/would leave once he's fully convinced that there is no progress being made and/or his contract is up. It's not just about getting paid. We know Tommy is a guy that likes to stay busy, and is a true musician.

that`s not really likely i think... i mean he can`t be fully convinced before axl dies. i guess if after rio nothing happens and there is still not even a sign than there is enough reason to say it`s not looking very good.....  and well..  a fixed-term contract isn?t very realistic, too. if you consider the new gnr a real band (like i do, even if not a really active one at the moment)and not just some hired studio musicians that  are only needed for some work and can go thereafter....  i don`t say there aren`t any contracts. according to zakk wylde( i think it was him) axl even wanted him to sign a contract when zakk just wanted to jam a bit.
