I've looked at gnrontour.com and it says that there's no live video of breakdown. I would love to see a live breakdown video... but....

in an mtv interview (circa 1991), Axl describes BD (along w/ "side 1" of UYI II) as "return of the south"---i.e. it has a southern feel to it, which I agree. I like the momentum this song builds up too--esp. useful when jogging up a hill (Love listening to gnr when I jog!)

Love the song minus the beginning and ending.
You are rippping off the song I think what makes special Breakdown is the way the lyrics merged into the song everything from the begining to the end is one way ticket to a person that is really passing through a bad time. I think it's one of their best

I dont think the chorus ruins the song, I mean its too brief to do any damage..just sets up a transistion for the next verse more than anything. What ruins the song is when it ends..

Great song, except for the end with the voice over that kills the melody and the mood. but in general a great song.

I agree. The end almost ruins it. Maybe it needed "finishing touches".

I think it's one of their best? I mainly just don't care for the whistling in the beginning. Right after that it's all good. Then the whole "There goes the challenger being chased" bit at the end just ruins it for me. Too long and drawn out. That's usually where I back the song up to about 0:24 and listen again.

This is one song that would sound great on a "Use Your Illusion...Naked" type album.

I agree although id go further and say the wole UYI set would do weel being pared down and remastered in a rawer way. Particulary, it'd be great if Izzys guitars were audible like on Appetite and Lies and Sorums drum sound was radically overhauled

It would be great if Axl would re-release those albums, give fans something to chew on for a few years until the new album.

would be considered one of the greatest albums ever recorded. I hate to think about it hypothetically, as it should have been one the best albums recorded. We really dont know the exact cirumstances why the band pushed for a double album but if only someone had only sat the band down and skimmed through the bulk of UYI material recorded, down to the specific songs you listed we could have been listening to Chinese Democracy years ago. I mean if UYI was one disc comprised of your choice songs, GnR wouldnt have just followed up AFD, but in my eyes they would have outdone it. A killer sophmore release would have lit a unwavering flame under Axl's ass to keep the timeless classics coming and I doubt he would have gone back into hiding with that much critical praise to his name.
