Do you think the new album should be called Chinese Democracy, if the song Chinese Democracy is also released it could create confusion. Do you have any alternative names for the album or anything to say about the name? ok

it's a nonsense question

it's a nonsense answer Tongue

Why, I don't understand. Wouldn't you still like AFD if it were called Happy Fairy Princess? It's the music that counts in my opinion

I understand what your saying, but the name ' CHINESE DEMOCRACY' is now legendary, and has been for almost 10 years.
if the name changed it just wouldn't be the same regardless of the songs or the quality of the record...it would be like recalling AFD 18 years later and changing the name to Happy Fairy Princess.......Can you see where im at?  ok

According to some on these boards, the name "Chinese Democracy" is now synonymous with failure, farce, procrastination and ridicule.
I've also heard it stated that it's a "popular culture" joke.

If it is to be successful, should Axl perhaps think about rebranding this project/product? Is the name Chinese Democracy too attached to what could be perceived as failure?

Discuss and feel free to offer alternative titles.

That album title is already legendary.

The name Chinese Democracy already has more publicity than u could buy.

Its what people are waiting for, so changing it would get the CD buzz.

I think perhaps keeping it would be a good idea, then maybe the title would be synonymous with "well worth the wait"........... well here's to hoping it is.? ok

hard to say, i dont belive they will change it, but there sure is a chance that it might happend.
They called theyr 2002 tour, Chinese Democracy tour, why do that, when they knew that "soon is not the word"
It could just be a project name that they used, during the "test tour", and making the album.
Its a bit waird, coz most bands dont publich the album date before a couple of months before the release date...

Finishing and releasing the labum would be a better idea. CD is a legnedary title and describes the whole world of Axl Rose.

Why is that ? didn't Axl said about the title that it has no meaning, just a title he likes ?
I don't think it describes anything at all....

GNR never had used the name of one of their songs as the album title before, I like more that style of titles like AFD, Lies, UYI and even TSI. I agree that it would have more impact to release the album with a new and fresh name, not a title that has 5 years of flyin' around and it has been linked to ridicule and an eternal waiting.

Agreed. If the album comes out as "Chinese Democracy" people will be like "wow, I can't believe it." If it comes out under a different title, people will be like "eh."

Well said  ok---the name has become part of the legend of the most expensive record ever made-it can't be replaced in any practical way.

Isnt this a "Dead Horse'' topic?
