I don't know if we've had this before...

I know we had a healthy eating thing the other week. But it was more about diet watching that anything else...

I wasn't sure what to search for, so if anybody has started a thread similar to this, and feels I am stealing their thunder, then please don't hesitate to tell me, and I will reply '...So what, you fucking freak?' before being kind enough to merge the two.

So, yes. Pleasentries over with.

Starting from today, I'm going to stop eating the shit that I have been for the last 19 years...

I was always a really, really fussy eater until a couple of years ago. Now that I do actually like a wider range of foods, it's actually difficult for me to eat that widely because...I'm not really sure what is out there. Sounds strange, doesn't it...But do you get it?

Basically, I'm trying to sort what I'm eating out.

In the long term I'm going to start running and the sort, but I would rather change what I am eating first...

My point is, digression (is that a real word?) asside, is...

Healthy eating, what is it? I really don't know...Never done it.

If you could recommend healthy meals, healthy snacks and the like, then I would really appreciate it.

So far, I know that I should drink more water and eat five pieces of fruit a day.

Err...

Anything else?

Some advice, and some general help, here would be quality...

I should let me wife chime in on this. She is an expert on healthy diet.

The basics are stay away from sugar and animal fat. Tough to do with the food we have available to us today. Ditch white bread and replace with wheat bread. Ditch potatoes and replace with sweet potatoes. Lots of bright colored fruits and veggies, lots of water, lean steak (if you eat meat) is ok, like a filet. Ribeye type steaks, not ok. Chicken, fish, turkey, are good. Brown rice instead of white rice.

The hardest thing for me is not eating sweets. HARD!

The most important thing you can do is eat right. It is easier to start good habits now, then try to change them when your life is half way through and you are bloated and tired.

Water and green tea is great for flushing out toxins in your body. Try to stay away from sodas. Fruit juice is not very good for you, because of the high amount of sugar that it contains. Coffee - Don't do it!

Avoiding red meat, or at least cutting back on it, will benefit your heart's health.

Baking instead of frying food is a must.

Eat whole grains instead of the refined kind (white bread and rice). If you're gonna eat bread, make sure it's labeled Whole Wheat.

stay away from tinned food,
eat fresh food, green vegetables, red/green peppers especially
eat almonds/sesame seeds if you want a snack...both are good for you unless you have a nut allergy!
watermelon is the best fruit you can eat
drink 8 glasses of water a day...it helps digestion as well as being a detoxin

get a smoothie blender and make your own desserts...almond milk, watermelon and raspberry smoothie...yum...plenty of recipes online

eat more fish like salmon and tuna, although dont eat fish more than twice a week

My dad used to just eat crappy food constantly and then he had a heart attack.  So now him, me, mum, my sister are all obsessed with what we eat.  Fish and Salad mainly.  There is alot you can do with healthy food!  And then you start to realise that KFC and Maccas and everything else is total crap!!  no

I try to limit my food intake to only one meat meal a day.  It'll usually be steak, but that's my goal.  I usually skip breakfast, or make some juicer via an awesome juicer my office has, then only have salads and maybe bread for lunch (though I try to avoid any dead foods) and then just eat a huge steak and oysters for dinner.  Yep.. that's me.  I also love sushi.

"Most important meal of the day" <--- this is not bullshit! 
It is really important to get your metabolism going right when you wake up ("break the fast" from sleeping  Roll Eyes)... and a lot of the time you'll eat more later in the day which is worse for you.  If you DON'T eat more later in the day, you're probably not getting everything your body needs.

Agree with Drama and Eazy, Im more into vegetables yet I can't let the meat aside  crying , on the other hand breakast is really important cause even if you have breakfast you can skip lunch but not viceversa.

I know!  That's why I try to "juice up" instead of having a meal.  I put like apples, pears, carrots and other shit into the juicer and juice up in the morning.  But yeah, I know I should have better meals in the morning.  I just love eating at night.. I love steak.. I love whiskey... I can't stop.
