Couldn't you see how worn out the Frence team were by the end of the game?? If they just kept playing they would risk serious injury to themselves.? Though, I guess if they were allowed to use as many subs as they wanted once extra time had begun that would eradicate that problem.? Actually, I think I may have just stumbled across the answer there...

And sudden death extra time has been used before - it's called Golden Goal.? Personally I prefer it to 30 mins of extra time because I think it encourages teams to push forward and try to win the game, but others think the exact opposite (ie, teams become afraid to go forward in case they let one in the other end).? I really think Golden Goal is the best solution but I guess FIFA know best.

risk serious injury?? that makes no sense to me. how does playing for a long time put you at risk of "SERIOUS" injury?

also, if teams knew they had to play until someone scored, they would be much more aggressive. and as teams get tired, there are more defensive breakdowns, which makes the play even more exciting.

they're very important.
finishing that way is not a disgrace, it uses different style of player, and players needs to focus and use different talent

there's a lot going on when you shoot a penalty.

during my career (ahahahha, ok shut up !) i always refused to shoot 'em and my coach hated that, but i do suck at penalties.
