Well, I thought the Germans were great. The fans from all over the world were very well received there, no problems at all (except for the Hooligans). The way they supported their team was also a very interesting thing to watch, it's been a long time since we saw that in a world cup.

It's not been a great World Cup but there's still been a few classic moments.  The game last night was outstanding and Argentina were wonderful to watch at the start.  There's been some great goals too, although most of them came early on in the tournament.

I have a feeling Portugal will scrape it tonight.  France's World Cup ends here.

do all the leagues around the globe use PKs to decide ties? do any leagues have other methods?

as far as i'm aware no leagues are decided on penalties. in the league, if individual games are tied the points are shared and in the unlikely event of teams being even on points and goal difference at the end of a season they are separated either by some sort of play-off game or their record against one another over the course of the season is used; if time is a factor. (whilst i only know this occurs in europe i assume its the same eveywhere else)

penalties are not a perfect answer but nothing has come close to being a viable alternative, and anyway england are awful (read - the worst in the world) at penalty shootouts so to change the system would be wrong.
