We've been told by insiders that this amazon thing is bullshit. But is there anyway to put it to rest, or see if there is at least something to it? Maybe we could email MTV, Tower, melodicrock, Splat, and post the replies here.

ppbebe,
Amazon's records are updated electronically, usually via direct links with the Record labels / their distributors. Although the CD entry COULD be a manual one, I would doubt it is - that's just not normal operating procedure over there.

Since when it is normal?
Even merck says they are playing games.
BTW, what do you think of my earlier posts about the amazon?

If Amazon's gonna be in trouble, isn't CD Universe too? Sorry if this has been posted before, I'm one of the lazy ones who don't bother to read every thread.

i still don't believe anything unless it comes frm the man himself or record company, but on the other hand Axl has never played by the rules e.g UYI I & II released on the same day all new material was unheard of back in '91.
He could release the album within a short period of time and get maximum exposure, in other words they don't have to build momentum to set a release date in the new year and start promoting months and months before.

Chinese Democracy Gets Release Date
Chinese Democracy, the long awaited album by Guns N? Roses has been given a release date of December 31st by amazon.com. Many fans believed that the new album was on the way after a recent announcement of another greatest hits album.
Despite Amazon?s listing, their UK site has no information on the album, nor does their competitors such as Play.com, CD WOW and HMV. Furthermore, the official site states that the album is expected in March 2006.

Why do people keep saying Amazon is reporting a 12/31/05 release date when the year is clearly listed as
2025
?
Does this article say 12/31/05?
No.? But it clearly implies it.

Where does cduniverse get their info from?
I mentioned CD Universe earlier because they are listing WTTJ twice, with two different catalog numbers. Someone brought up that there are two versions, one clean and one edited. I emailed CD Universe and asked what the difference was, and if they were still expecting a Dec. 20 release date. No response yet, but if I hear anything worth repeating I will post it.

Here is the response I got from CD Universe (I asked why they listed 2 different versions of WTTJ and if they still expected it to be released on the 20th.)
Thank you for your email. We believe the 2 listings are actually the same
and we will work on merging these together. At this time we have been told
the release date is 12/20/05. As soon as we hear differently we will update
our site accordingly. Please feel free to email me if you have any further
questions.
Thank you for shopping at CD Universe.

What the "Supposed Insiders" say dont carry in weight anyway.
I honestly dont think this is Chinese Democracy but I trust Merck,Mysteron and any other person bout as far as i can throw em because even if this were true, its not like they would come on and comfirm it anyway.

It's now been two or three days since "Chinese Democracy" was listed on Amazon. They must have got hundreds of emails about it. Why have they not removed it...? Or changed the name back to "Best Of.."...?

Does it still alternate between CD and WTTJ?
I noticed that the CD listing has moved closer to the top of results when searching for "Guns N' Roses"

Struggling Sanctuary eyes fund raising
Mon Dec 5, 2005 10:25 AM GMT

By Pete Harrison
LONDON (Reuters) - Struggling music group Sanctuary, home to Elton John and Axl Rose, said on Monday it was considering raising new equity to deal with its high debts.
Sanctuary, the world's biggest independent music label, has been cutting jobs and non-core businesses after a string of profit warnings, which it reiterated on Monday.
Sanctuary said it was in talks to sell its music publishing and studios businesses and would make write-downs and provisions likely to be in the region of 130 million pounds to 170 million pounds.
"The board recognises that the level of debt in the group is too high and is actively exploring a number of options for the medium and long term financing," it said in a statement. "One of these options is a significant equity fund raising," it added.
It repeated its warning in September that it would generate a loss at the EBITDA level for the full year, before exceptional items such as the restructuring costs and provisions.
In August, the firm announced the failure of buyout talks. Sources familiar with the situation said at the time the company held talks with EMI Group, Warner Music Group and several private-equity groups.
Sanctuary purchased a number of large artist-managed companies in recent years, including those owned by Elton John and Mathew Knowles, father of R&B diva Beyonce. But problems at the Sanctuary Urban division, run by Knowles, contributed to a string of ever-worsening profit warnings.
"We have acknowledged that Sanctuary has expanded too rapidly," Executive Chairman Andy Taylor said on Monday.
But he said the group had progressed quickly and efficiently with repositioning the business since the late summer.
Sanctuary shares closed at 3.25 pence on Friday, valuing the group at around 12 million pounds.

will this effect the release of the cd?
