You might, of course, notice that Merck's answer isn't exactly a denial.

"Amazon are playing games" doesn't directly translate into "Its not true, CD will not be released and sold through Amazon.com relatively soon".? In fact, his statement is pretty vague, to state the least.

Also, I like Mysteron's little parentheses when referring to Universal's release list .. the (not at this time) thing or whatever.

I do my best not to be a conspiracy theorist, but you have to admit, this entire situation does hold at least some promise.

I have been doing some thinking. Here is my thought.
It?s definitely going to be Chinese Democracy because how the hell would Geffen release GH2 or WTTJ for the band that has only 5 album worth of materials.

For 5 album worth of songs, the best they could is release 1 single GH album which they have already done that.

If we can just forget about Spaghetti Incident, then it will be 4 because SI was disappointing.

AXL would not want another GH album release. I think that first the record company is threatening AXL if he does not release CD, they will release GH2.

Then this force AXL to release CD, that?s why it?s pre-order at amazon

Mysteron.  I'm not saying that Amazon's information has any sort of validity.  However, aren't you the least bit curious as to WHY they've updated their site like that?

We are, afterall, talking about Amazon - not like "Heyitsmikescdstore!.com" or something.  I don't expect Merck to come out and reveal release plans (provided there are any in place, anyway) but I'd love it if he'd toss the fans at least a snippet of hope every now and again.  If he did, maybe you wouldn't have huge threads like this on something that you claim is "baseless".

My current boss used to work at Amazon and I asked about the process of records getting listed. Here is what I was told, in summary:

Apparently the distributor for this CD would have notified Amazon of the existence of the album, with the understanding that the record exists and is ready, but cover art, etc and the release date may change. The date into the future as stated previously is just a placeholder until the final date is decided upon. I was given the response that this is a credible listing and would not have occured without a completed record waiting in the wings.

Sounded good to me. Don't know if this info helps, but it's fun to finally have some positivity here.

Exactly like some of us suspected.  Some company has requested that page on Amazon.  Do you know if a company has to pay Amazon to put up that page?

What reasons does he have to lie?

Check his history, the guy was a former A&R and marketing director at Virgin Records by the time he was 20. He's basically what you'd call a very smart guy...

He's also a personal manager for Axl and Bruce Dickinson, 2 of the most difficult people (according to the press) in the industry, and he's been handling them well all these years.
