I think Chinese Democracy is coming.

Its funny that Greatest hits vol 2 was comin out but since Richard is goin back to LA all of a sudden there is no such release in the works.

I think Axl reached a compromise.

"Dont release GH2 and Ill deliver CD for a Spring/Summer release"

I think the wheels are starting to turn.

I agree, like Lastroots says the chain of events is too coincidental to ignore.

Whether it has anything to do with Richard returning to the studio who knows. I hope he doesn't go all quiet on us - I can see the scene now - 'Richard you've been far to chummy withe the fans recently, please cease all e-mails...we're watching you!'.

At the least if he does say I expect to see you in 2006 again we'll have a good idea. I also think the fact that Tommy hasn't been confirmed with SA yet as a positive sign.

It'd be a great update to see a recent pic of any member with axl, even if with just a braid.

because by all accounts, he didn't adhere to the "yes-man" approach that Axl surrounds himself with

Ezrin served as the A&R man from October, 2000 (or at least was announced then) to early/mid 2001. In late June '01, management announced that Tom Zutaut had been brought in as an A&R man, obviously replacing Ezrin.

Who is the A&R man now?

In fact does anyone know how many people are involved with GN'R in some way?

"So in putting this thing together, in a lot of ways, I've had to do way more jobs in it than I'm supposed to - I've had to be manager, A&R man, producer, sole lyric writer, and a lot of [other] things" - Axl on KISW interview, November 20, 2002.

Tom Zutaut and Roy Thomas Baker were fired in early '02, and Axl's apparently been in charge ever since.

Richard Fortus, the phenomenon

« Reply #296 on: December 12, 2005, 04:08:59 PM »

To come back on topic: maybe Fortus is currently using jellifish tools to record in the studio right now. Who knows? I remember he said how much he loves using the jellifish tools. Check his interview (last june) here: http://www.sp1at.com/item.php?id=548

The interesting part:

"How did you discover the Jellifish tool, and what are your thoughts on it?

I think that I read something about the Jellifish and ordered one on-line. I'm always looking for new sounds, the Jellifish blew my mind. It's an amazing tool. Very simple, but so effective. There are so many different effects you can create with it. I immediately ordered about 20 to give to my guitarist friends. Some people totally get it and some don't. You have to work with it and be creative with it. It takes some getting used to, but it's well worth the effort for me. It's not for your average guitar guy, looking to play rock or blues. It's a very gentle, subtle tool, that is more for creating textures and uncommon tones. I love it for creating zither-ish type sounds on accoustic. If you strike close to the bridge, it gives you a very thin, chimey sound. Great for arpegiated single not lines. Or, you can play very straight, whole-note chords towards the neck for more textural/ambient sounds. I've used the Jellifish with a Godin Glissentar and with smaller octave guitars. It's ideal for more cinematic music.

Have you recorded with it?

I've used it on a number of film scores, video game scores and commercials and tv themes, as well as records.

Have you incorporated the Jellifish into the GN'R sound?

I didn't use it on the Chinese Democracy record, as most of my parts were done by the time I discovered the Jellifish

Bob Ezrin isa pretty much a legend though, he has worked with every band imaginable and they all say good things about him. Even Kiss's The Elder is part of his legend because its such a freaked out record. And Ezrin admitted he was too high on drugs to know better. If Ezrin said theres 3 good songs then you have to partly believe it.
