I don't get this.

Ross Halfin mentioned in his diary that Merck told him that the album is done.

I understand that Marcel wouldn't lie, but it just seems a bit scary to me...

Maybe Merck read Halfin's diary, that could have had an influence on what kind of info he shared with this guy...

Quote

What if the album is done and they wanna keep it a secret so it won't leak?

That's just what I think - they are spreading confusion or at least not trying to clear things up because it helps to avoid leaks.

Quote

What if he's going back for promo work (photography, press and all that shit?)....

I think this is more likely than recording yet a guitar part.

this sounds pretty cool, how credible is this information though?

gunsnrosesonline.de is very credible, Marcel is cool, no bullshitter.

Here's a translation:

On Saturday, December 3rd, we had the opportunity to meet Richard after the Nena concert. He took some time to sign pictures for us in front of the hotel. After we saw that he was signing some items with "see you soon" and "see you in 2006", we came to speak about Chinese Democracy.

After the tour with Nena, he will go back to Los Angeles to make some recordings for the album. The work on the album continues. Richard himself seemed very confident about GN'R, so we assume that we will be holding the most expensive album in the world in our hands "soon".

you know what? This sounds like a something official, just listen to the tone of the letter, it's like it's comming from the camp, so thought thru.

Like the obvious hope spreaders like "see you soon" or " see you in 2006" and just the fact that they name gn'r and the album title, Chinese Democracy, and say that it is the most expensive album in the world etc.

It's like richard was given a green light for revealing the facts that the album isn't done, but that they are still working on it, and that they hope for a 06 release wich would be soon in our eys...

he he i'm so fucking drunk now... no Grin

I am sure recording an album is a very time-consuming ordeal, and it's probably even worse when working with a perfectionist.  Also, Richard's been on tour for awhile with Nena right?  Listen, not only does this news of new recording make me happy about the 2006 release time-frame...it also makes me realize how close to Richard's heart this album must be.  This dude's got a beautiful wife, and a beautiful new-born baby.  Judging by Richard's openness with the fans and really cool, down-to-earth replies, I think this guy would be a great dad.  Great dads only miss out on time with their kids if the alternative is worthwhile.

  This news fucking rocks!   beer

Did anyone ask Richard if this is true yet?

Jesus, same old bullshit.

Re-recording Buckethead's parts is NOT good news; In fact it is tragic. If true, my excitement for this project has dropped another notch down.

I can't believe they are going to do more recording. Unbelievable. So what? another six months of sitting on their asses. I guess Johan was right.

I have only one question...who attends a Nena concert. Is this the chick with 99 red ballons?
SO, I guess this is AXL's ACTION PLAN.

DANCE DANCE DANCE DANCE DANCE TO THE RADIO

« Reply #47 on: December 05, 2005, 10:30:05 PM »

Honestly, if this thing is still being recorded then don't expect to see it in the shops for at least another 8 months.

You and all the others who say that this will delay the album are flat out wrong!? First of all, there is not delaying an album that has no release date.?
Where did I mention anything about the album being "delayed"...?  confused

My opinion is: if the record is still being recorded then don't expect a release to happen within the next 6-8 months.

at least axl hasn't gave up on releasing the album if he's still working on it, i guess thats the one bright spot i take out of this, cause up until now i honestly believed that he was just gonna shelf the album and walk away, and he still might, either or i've stopped holding my breath

I guess it's possible that this is a cover, but unfortunately, given the track record of the last 5 years (I only count since 2000 when the line-up was slightly stable and CD was actually named)  what do you think is more likely? That there is some master plan they're keeping under wraps or that Axl is still unsatisfied?

I am not sure he has a real intention of putting this material out in the light of the public. As someone mentioned above, the process of touching up this album is a Manhatten Project in its own right. It is a perpetual process.

Positive Pete would say, this is a decoy planted by Merck and Axl...the album is on the way.

CD starts now?

I'm sorry, but I shot Positive Pete this morning-he's buried next to Chris Pittman's dignity.

My apologies if this has already been mentioned, but why is it so impossible that the recording could be for tracks to be included as b-sides on upcoming singles or perhaps the NEXT album. Why not keep recording with one album in the can?

Don't freak out yet. We don't know shit.  ok

If they are re-recording Buckethead's parts that is just ridiculous.  I mean, hasn't he been out of the band for a year and a half to two years now?

And what about just record guitar for one song? Only one track! Something Axl might just finished the lyrics because it would be a single for some movie (Da Vinci?) and wanted Richard back to do some licks and riffs to fit with the vocals?

Axl said three albums, if I'm corrrrrrect Tommy's finished and Brain was finished with there tracks. Also maybe Axl was waiting for Bucket, or some finishing touches with guitar and vocals. All this could be finished by March 06. Hell, anything could be happening
