Weiland and Duff with Camp Freddy 12/4

From Billy Morrison's site:
"It really is a whirlwind when we do that kinda thing. One minute, I am waking up, drinking coffee and smoking, and trying to clear the fog in my head and get a picture of my day. And the next I am crawling back into my bed at about 3.30am having flown to Vegas and back, soundchecked for five hours, meeted and greeted, shook hands, smiled a lot, played a show and flown back home. Its a ton of fun, but I wish I could learn to be in the moment when its all taking place. I spend so long working on a show and thinking about all the details that once it arrives, I am too busy going over stuff in my head to appreciate whats going on! I mean, playing Round And Round with Warren De Martini from Ratt is pretty much something you dont do every day! The band sounded really tight, and we threw in a couple of new songs to keep it fresh. The Ratt song was one of them, and we also did a storming version of Alice Cooper's Eighteen, with Mr Jerry Cantrell singing lead vocals. Other highlights included me forgetting the lyrics to the first verse of Ziggy (I was so excited to sing that song that I got a little carried away!), Billy Duffy and Ty Taylor killing it on Whole Lotta Love, our very own Dave Navarro just WAILING on the lead of more than one tune, and of course,
Scott (just call me Jim Morrison) Weiland knocking Roadhouse Blues outta the park. Personally, doing Crackerman with him, and Duff on guitar also ranks up there on my 'wow, did we really do that?' meter.
Its a bizarre thing that we do, and I always expect it to fall apart at any moment. But it doesnt, and people seem to have a lot of fun - both audience and band go home smiling. And isn't that what it is all really about? I'll have a bunch of pics to post in a day or so, thanks to Todd, who flew out there to hang with us. So I will post again soon. Have a great day. Oh, and by the way - I know todays pic isnt from last night, but it's such a cool looking shot (Nice one, Wendy!!) that I just thought I'd stick it up anyway!
Billy
More from Dave's site:
"What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas... Except Camp Freddy." We were in and out of there in a day. We started off with a flight to Vegas at 11:30am, got to soundcheck at The Palms around 2:00pm, then had some down time from 6:30-8:30pm. Cantrell and I got our naps on and then woke up to a pot of coffee, showers then down to the party where Carmen already was, hosting the evening with Johnny Fava. Great set tonight with the highlight being Round and Round with Warren DeMartini of Ratt on guitar and Mark McGrath on vocals. Warren and I actually figured out the harmony solo parts and it was pretty rad.
Scott Weiland did Crackerman and Roadhouse Blues, Duff did New Rose,
Ty Taylor did Whole Lotta Love and even Sweet Suzie McNiel came up and did Feel Like Makin Love. It was great to see those two again and they killed it. Steve Jones on Pretty Vacant is always amazing... A Sex Pistols song with a Sex Pistol is a pretty undeniable experience. Jerry sang Alice Cooper's 18 and played on Cat Scratch and Man in the Box. Duffy played on Makin Love and Ziggy. Of course, as with all Camp Freddy shows, everyone came out for Dog, including Carmen who gyrated onstage alongside Johnny Fava. Earlier in the set, Johnny did a hilarious version of Paranoid. If you have ever seen him, you know what I mean.
(Thanx to Princessabby for the pictures!) After the show, we literally got off stage, packed our shit and got on the plane back to LA. Carmen stayed on for the Billboard thing on Tuesday with Greg, so my trusty SRL co-host is out for a few days. I plan on resuming the radio show tomorrow as I have received five brand new unopened Netflix and I am just wasted from the day. What else? I think that's it. I'm burnt. I saw a few Community members in the audience, but I never got a chance to say hi, so if you are reading this... "Hi.""

on topic: Does Camp Freddy ever plan on recording original material? They've got the band camraderie thing down, so why not get to the studio.
off topic, but still. The LA Times was whining the other day about how all the good shows & chefs are skipping town for Vegas because that's where the money flows. Even the palm trees homegrown in CA are shipped first to Vegas, and then to LA. The 'Strip' is now increasingly Vegas, and not Sunset.
and off topic again,

If Axl ever decides to resurface after the 2002 fiasco, do you think he'll notice that the rock scene has changed since his last appearance? Musicians and people alike seem more willing to let old grudges and biases die, and just rock out. Here's hoping he takes note of that.

No plans to do anything original, their long awaited covers album is inching closer to completion though.? A few more guest spots to be tracked last time I heard.? Produced by Mike Clink by the way..

No clue about Axl, history with him shows us his grudges run deep so I doubt anything changed on his end.
