Here Today...

« on: December 02, 2005, 08:35:53 PM »

On almost all of the lists where people say the songs they think will be on CD, Oh My God is mentioned. Why? It was already released on an album . . . what, 6-7 years ago? So why in the world would Axl have a 7 year old song thats already been released to the public take up a spot on Chinese Democracy? Makes no sense at all to me.

Oh My God will not be on Chinese Democracy

unless the presence of a bonus disc.. in that case OMG could be there.. or maybe as a "b side" on the second/third single

As a B side, that would be interesting---if the WTTJ GH2 is real and Axl has input in it, I wouldnt be completely shocked to see it on there.

Maybe if it were very much redone.

The one on "End of  Days" is a lot worse than the one they do at RIO, for instance.

It should be on there, because it was almost totally ignored when it first came out. It really is a cool song and needs to be reintroduced.

I would LOVE to see OMG on Chinese Democracy. It would HAVE to be reworked though. If the EoDs version was on it.. it would be a bad track for "the greatest album ever"

But come on.. listen to that disco beat in the prechorus. Insane. And the ending? Like the tides out on the ocean.. the waves already set in motion.. the only one in the game whos lost is.. YOU! Gives me damn goosebumps.

If he re-did his vocals.. if the verse was made more.. catchy.. and less dense/"busy".. the song would be widely accepted.

Single worthy even.

But if they didn't redo it.. then.. having it on the album would be a mistake. It sounds dated already.

Definitely, it's a killer song, but it still sounds a bit too busy in places - I'd love to see a reworked version on Chinese Democracy, but I think that the song has its place on the EOD soundtrack.

Still, I firmly believe that the song is one of Axl's finest lyrical works ever - That fact alone makes me incredibly excited for the quality of material on CD.

"Like the tide down on the ocean, the waves already set in motion..."

Pure genius.  ok

Its not up to any of you to pick what songs should be on CD, WHAT!  I don't think Axl gives two shits about what you think!

We're just giving our opinions here and discussing why we like this song. Nobody's trying to dictate what tracks are going to be on the album.

Wouldn't make sense to me because:

1) its already been released!
2) my guess is that they want as much material that we Haven't heard on the album as possible.
3) i guess it could be on a b-side disc....

Wouldn't mind it on.  I like the song a lot.  What makes many albums special too is the song order and how songs compliment each other so the album feels like a journey, and if it was in the original plans then maybe it still needs to be in there.  I would not mind a different version of the song either one more like the Rock In Rio 3 version (without the mistakes..... Wink)

easy one, it won't be!
it's not good enough by far if CD is as great as it's expected to be.

WTF are you talking about----they totally blew the end of it at RIO--Axl was an entire verse behind!

The song is 6 years old...
By the time CD comes out, who knows how old it will be.

I don't see any purpose in releasing it on the CD
