I think they're working on their 2nd album now (they're very quiet about it) and I think the plan is to release it early 2006.

There's nothing set in stone, but apparently they have ALLOT of ideas from jams at soundchecks and stuff like that from the last tour, so it was just a matter of them sifting through them and turning them into songs.

Slash and Duff also said in an interview not so long ago that the new album would be heavier than Contraband, but who know's what will eventually come out...

Should be good though! ok

Every band always says the new album is "heavier" than the last. Any word on a producer?

I hope they produce the new album better then the last. Contraband was great but it seemed rushed.

I hope they pick a better producer than on Contraband. And I hope they replace heavy with melody and diversity en we might get an amazing album.....

I want Mike Clink.  I agree, heavy is okay on a few songs, but GNR's greatest tunes were not heavy.  Is YCBM their heaviest tune?  Right Next Door to Hell?  Either way, maybe he means Heavy as in "deep."  Like that is some Heavy Shit.  Who knows.  I don't like Slash as a "metal" player, I like him more of a blues rock player.  He can do Metal fine, but with the exception of YGNR and Fall To Pieces, the rest of the album was a newer more metal Slash.  I liked it, but when he gets to the solo of Fall to Pieces, that is the Slash I remember.  I do love the solo to Slither though.  Maybe the can cover Hey Joe for the new album.  Now that would rock!

knowing the way slash tends to speak ''heavy" could mean just about anything anything. Cool

I just hope Slash doesn't experiment again with Strats and stuff, and would stick to his bluesy LP tone...  peace

This is purely just my opinion, but I don't see them moving on anything til late 06.? They weren't exactly the most rushed band in regards to their first album as they took their time releasing that as well (granted they needed time to do PR work).? I know the guys love to play live but they have families now and I can't imagine they are too excited about getting on a bus for another year and a half straight.?

And you're right, they do seem very quiet about it for some reason.?

On a sidenote, I'm extremely curious to see what Scott is going to do lyrically in the next album.? How many more songs is he going to write about his drug abuse (when he hasn't done that in over 2 years) or him getting back together with Mary and the kids (which has been over 2 years).? If there's 11 more songs on this next album about those two things like Contraband then I admit I'll be disappointed.?

Perhaps the new album will feature lyrics about his new life, new friends and seeing the world and loving life?

I really don't care about following lyrics.. I just love to rock out to a good song.. Many tunes I love could be talking about anything, I just like the overall song..

It would be nice if he had better lyrics, but out of everything, that can be overlooked the most.  I wonder if Come On Come IN will be included.  Its an okay song.  I like Matt's drumming on it.

I think the new album will be better than Contraband.  I would like to see Brendan Obrien, STPs producer at the helm though.

If it isn't better than Contraband, the band's career is in serious trouble.

The bands career will be just fine if it equals "Contraband", record labels like things like double platinum sales, multiple hit singles and successful tours...

Its different this time. Back then, they were the "in" thing, the "flavor of the month",etc. People didn't really care if the album was great. There is always more pressure when doing a second album. There are much higher expectations with this next album, and believe me, their career will suffer if they dont come up with something better than Contraband. Have you ever heard of the sophomore jinx?
