Who here likes to run? I love it. I feel very relaxed and at peace while doing it. Six miles a day, everyday.

I run for around 45 minutes to an hour 5 days a week and u are right, it takes all my stress away and makes me feel great.
Running is mental and I get my breathing down to where I almost put myself in a trance/meditative type state and before I know it, I have gone a long ways.
I need some running shoes, I use basketball sneakers but they dont feel right while running, they are much too heavy.

No matter how many times I have tried, I've always failed. I just cant do it. It's so boring!
I love sports, they are so much fun. I like to compete as well, playing tennis, basketball, football fulfills that, but running, man, I can't do it for more than 15 minutes. It sure is a great exercise, but it's boring to no end.

I know what you mean.. Running bores the shit out of me. But give me ball, and I'll chase the damn thing all day long. I'm not too smart.

So many good things come from running:
-Eat how much and whatever you want.
-Catch a bus
-Walk up stairs w/o being out of breath
-runners high

People always asked me why I never got drunk or high, Id always say that I got the same feeling exercising as people do with alcohol or drugs.
If I dont exercise I get so depressed and so miserable.
I found that running somewhere is better than running on a treadmill or in a circle.
At my best Id run 5 miles but i did it through my city and it seemed so easy, Id try running in a circle and I just couldnt run for shit due to boredom, same with a treadmill.
Its very weird the mental part of it all.

All things you can also achieve by playing sports. And don't tell me that running's a sports. Running's a survival method from 3000B.C. .
Except that you don't have to run that long to get the high if you can make a great play playing something that's actually fun. Of course if one sucks at these type of sports, then he most propably will be left without this great feeling.

I would argue running is a sport, but regardless, I find it fun. And studies show you need to run at least an hour for that "runners high."

I used to run a lot but I am plain foot, I don't know how to say but the base of my feet are plain!, so I can run normaly I get tired really quick if I stand too much, I hate it but that's my condition, when I run I rather do it with something fun cause I get bored really quick.
A plus point is that running got me lose 20 lbs in one month so I think is good to do it but I found to difficult to do it.
How many miles you run? and the first time when you run did you find it hard to do it?
The question is for everyone who has run.

Running is soooo dull...I just can't do it for more than half a mile
But if I play a sport I run like a madman (
) for hours and feel great.

Started running to lose weight years ago, lost weight, still running.
It was a pain in the ass when I started, but now it's like a medidation for me.
Sometimes when agressive I wanna beat up someone and stuff and then I go out running and everything's good. I can sort my thoughts there. You're alone, in nature, feeling free and alive - it's great.
And it's true, you can eat whatever you want! I'm eating like a motherfucker but I don't gain a pound anymore. And I don't even work out that much, so I guess that's due to running.
Running about 5 miles 4 days a week and loving it!? ?

In the winter when you run, if you're a man, wear underpants under your running pants. Or else you'll get frost nip on the top of your penis, and that ain't no fun.

Yeah, throw a ball in the mix and running becomes a lot less boring. I learned that from my dog.

Keep it up bro. But where heavy underwear. The cold weather will make your penis frost nip, I'm not kidding!

I don't think that's the case. Purple lives in Ecuador and I don't believe they are ever that cold.?
20 mins is not bad though, many people can't even run 10 mins. Take me for example, I'm not out of shape and I can't run more than 5 mins...as D was poining out earlier, the mental aspect is crucial and I just don't have it for running.

Running is mostly mental, me for instance when I run, I dont get tired, my body doesnt hurt and I dont get out of breath but mentally I just keep saying STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP.
Right now my goal is to run a sub 7 minute mile.
I weigh 225 pounds, so to run a sub 7 minute mile to me would be good.
I never timed my miles and I would just run slow for distance but I started out running a 12 minute mile that was way too easy. then I ran an 11 minute mile it was easy, then I did a 10 once again very easy.
So Tuesday I ran one in 9:07 I think it was and it was easy.
So tonight Im gonna go for an 8 and a half minute mile.
Im hoping to get under the 7 mark by Spring.
I mostly have been running strictly on EFX machines which are great for getting in shape, but I am starting to grow very fond of the treadmill again.

Just keep it up and you will find it gets easier and easier.
Just try to do a little better than the day before and take control over your mind and dont let it take control over you.
When your mind starts telling you to quit do a check of all your body.
Go to your legs and see how they feel, go to your breathing and see if you are out of breath are not.
if your legs arent hurting immensely and your lungs are still in great shape, tell your mind to fuck off.
Why is it that the first half of a mile is so hard.
It seems once u get through that first half mile it becomes a whole lot easier.
