how do I make those screaming sounds you hear in like 80's shred solos?
Do you pull the bar up? When I try that , the pitch cuts off.

Trick: To get that horse neigh sound like Van Halen, do a pinch harmonic and then move the whammy bar up and down rapidly...  Wink

P.S: I don't know much about whammy bars, since I can't play a guitar with a movable bridge.  Roll Eyes

Use actual harmonics...not pinches. What most people don't know is that there are more harmonics that just 5,7 and 12. 24 (or the spot where it would be) makes the same as 5, 19makes the same sound as 7. You can also find harmonics at about 3 1/3, and 4 7/8. Basically its all relative to where the harmonic lies from the 12th fret, and you can use it on either side of it. Those last 2 I mentioned are the best for the squeal. You want to depress the whammey alot, not quite dive bomb it, and pick it while the strings are slightly loose. It should give you the squeal and you can whammey away. That should help I hope.
