I wonder what the record contract says about compilations. Can Geffen keep releasing "best of" compilations for as long as they wish or does the contract state "one compilation".....

From what I know, usually contracts say "one best of and one live album" or something similar?

Look at one of my other favorite bands (Pearl Jam). They were signed to Sony and released a live album in 1998 as well as a Greatest Hits in 2004 (which fullfilled the contract as far as I know).

I think something definately weird is going on. I'm of the opinion that "WTTJ: The Very Best of GnR" is what Axl, Slash & Duff wanted GH to be.....

I've also thought that maybe this was Slash and Duff's GH. Since Axl owns the new and future GnR and S&D want to own the back catalogue we may have 2 separate entities releasing material under the name Guns N Roses Huh That is solely the reason I don't fully understand the Court Case. There can be only one GnR!!!! Having 2 would be just too fucked up.

CD won't come out next month because it is coming out in early 2006.
the band hopes so. I believe what the band members say more than anything.

GN'R is in now. they (the label) can't miss this golden opportunity.
With a single surfacing and an announcement of CD release, any GNR release will make a big-time sales.

How about
disc 1 selections from the old and its unreleased takes, remixed (without the approval of the band)
disc 2 rerecord old songs by the new band (without the approval of the band)

and a reissue of the previous GH in Jan...
a perfect set (without the approval of the band).

A month ago Universal Music Norway said GH2 in march 2006, and at the same time Richard said in his e-mails that CD would probably come out early '06... Universal was just reporting info they've gotten from the label (the cd being a GH), but Richard knew that the next release of Guns N' Roses would be Chinese Democracy.

Now, the whole thing has a release date (Dec. 20), but it's still called GH (well, "best of"). Hmm, I think there's a slight possibility that this ain't no "best of..."

Like I said, Merck KNOWS about our frustation, the frustation of the fans... so, him saying "2005 will be the year of GNR" lead me to think that he isn?t making "fun" of us... like "yeah, will be the year of GNR... BEST OF in your ass motherfuckers!!!"  Lips Sealed
so... yeah, I think he said that based in something "cool" and plans were to release it at the end of the year.... soooo .........  Lips Sealed ( I?m trying my best to not believe that is CD in disguise... couse I agreed with some of the posts, that IF the CD is ready to be release, the label will be HAPPY to annouce the news... but I don?t know what to think anymore )

I think, if GH2 or "anything else" are going to happen, we will hear something by next week...

You want proof it won't be CD and there won't be any "new GN'R" on GH2? Read Halfin's comment on his site about Slash thinking Axl's tracklisting for GH2 is good. (check the main topic about GH2, page 47 I believe - there you go: http://www.heretodaygonetohell.com/board/index.php?topic=23764.msg418578#msg418578)

Case closed.

something is very weird about the amazon listing for WTTJ, no track list, no label, and nothing official from anyone.  CD is very wishful thinking right now

It's very easy to make a GNR GH double disc.  Just look at Live Era.  I think this set could look something like this:
Disc 1
1.Welcome To The Jungle
2.Sweet Child O' Mine
3.Paradise City
4.Patience
5.You Could Be Mine
6.Don't Cry
7.Live And Let Die
8.November Rain
9.Yesterdays
10.The Garden
11.Dead Horse
12.Garden Of Eden
13.Estranged
14.Since I Don't Have You

Disc 2
1.Reckless Life
2.Move To The City
3.It's So Easy
4.Nightrain
5.Out Ta Get Me
6.Mr. Brownstone
7.My Michelle
8.Rocket Queen
9.You're Crazy (GN'R Lies Version)
10.One In A Million
11.Civil War
12.Knockin' On Heaven's Door
13.Right Next Door To Hell
14.Don't Cry (Alt. Lyrics)
15.Ain't It Fun
16.Sympathy For The Devil

There's 2 80 minutes discs worth, and it's still missing Locomotive, Pretty Tied Up, Braeakdown, Black Leather, etc...  So a greatest hits is very possible, but that will be awesome if it's Chinese.  Go Axl.

Hey the Slash interview cancelled my hopes. All I can hope for now is an announcement concerning C.D. when they have the WTTJ: BGNR press release...

Or maybe a single new track. Otherwise.. im bummed.  Undecided
