Here Today...

« on: November 19, 2005, 02:12:02 PM »

I'm not sure if this issue has been discussed or not.. Well I'm a big fan of GNR since 1991. After the TSI, I knew that the band is on the verge of "downfall" so I do not wait for Chinese Democracy until 4 years ago when AXL show up with his new band. Basically I've waited 4 years. Getting impatient BUT I still trust AXL will release CD when he is ready.

Its strange I was reading some NME Magazines that I found at home from 1999 (The Cover Has Michael Stipe and Courtney Love on it)
And It mentions Axl Rose working Hard on a new Album to be released in 2000 - So I suppose you could say Ive been waiting for 6 years now.
Im Hopful that one day the Album will be released, but at times its hard to see when

I remember in '97 or so hearing that Axl was going to be playing guitar... that got me interested, but I didn't have the internet then so I wasn't really trying to keep up all I could.
Then I remember not too long after, I got a Guitar World magazine that said Robin was Slash's replacement. I thought that was sort of odd because at the time the only work I thought I heard of Robin was The Downward Spiral (which unbeknownst to me at the time, he doesn't even play on.)

In the later part of '98 is when I started to really look forward to new Guns N' Roses. The message boards got me all excited. Then in '99 when Live Era/Oh My God came out, I was expecting a new GNR CD within a few months.

Here I am still waiting..

I was a big GNR fan from 91-94 or 95. then I forgot about them for quite some time till I started listening to them again about 4 years ago.
and I found out about Axl and his new band and all...been waiting since then....it's getting pretty boring.

I have always been a fan since SFD, but after the Illusions I guess it was 94-95 when I started to become intrigued about 'what was happening next'...I'm sure before I even knew about HTGTH there was a website called 'Lost Rose' or something that I started went to to hunt around for any type of info on GNR.

1999 when Axl talked about it in that MTV interview.. That's was the time I first heard about Chinese Democracy so I have waited for it since then.

Richard Fortus, the phenomenon

« Reply #8 on: November 19, 2005, 06:14:55 PM »

I've been waiting since the old? band broke-up around 1994,.but nobody knew it was going to be called "Chinese Democracy" so:
- from 1994 to 1999, I was waiting for the old band to reconciliate (Axl and Slash) and release an album and tour etc...
- from 1999 to today (and counting...), I've been waiting for "Chinese Democracy".

It took me 2 or 3 years to "accept" the idea of seeing GN'R without Slash. It's still very hard for me to get used to it, but Richard Fortus has re-given me the hope. However, I still miss Slash a lot. He is unique, he was the sound of GN'R.?He was as important as Axl, GN'R is not really "GN'R" anymore without Slash. It will never be the same.

Been waiting since 94 as well.  Been a die-hard fan since 87.  Hopefully all the waiting will eventually pay off.  I'm tired of defending GNR v2 to all my friends that think CD will never come out.  I'll end up having the last laugh. beer

I got into GN'R in Summer 2002. Downloaded the newer songs in September 2003 so i guess since then. Nowhere near the lengths some previous posters have given
