You don't have to say it directly, you advertise it in different ways.  I don't care, it neither excuses nor explains why you would say such a cruel and insulting comment.

As far as #7, I suppose you are going for the sympathy thing in hopes it relieves you of the responsibility of your words.  As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't.  I don't believe you are telling the truth, but if you are, it doesn't excuse you.  Apologizing might help, but saying you were out of line then telling her to fuck off, somehow doesn't come off as being to sincere.
