I've been a member of this board a long time and I started to wonder this..

Why is it that most people here do their best to bring someone down? And it's not here, it seems to be everywhere.

For an example, when I started my own business, many of my friends disagreed with me and gave me a hundred reasons why I would not succeed, even tho I only needed one reason why I would.

What's the gain to bring your friend down if he has a new idea to do something, is it because people are jealous he would succeed or what?

Last sunday I stopped at a gas-station and I was wearing a suit since I was on my way from a bussiness meeting and this man, a bit over his 40's tried to bring me down first by calling names and I wanted to show him something.

I asked what did he do for a living and he told he repaired exhaust pipes (some career)
- Exhaust pipes? How long have you been doing that?
- For twenty years
- You've been doing that for twenty years?! Damn. Hey I'll tell you something. Have you evr wondered what's the point of selling yourself day by day, an hour for 8-15 euros. You've been doing that for twenty years, I bet you know pretty much how to do it and what equipment you need?
- umm.. yeah
- Tell me, does your boss know how to do this better than you?
- no he doesnt.
- so why are you still doing this, if you've been doing this for twenty years and you can do it pretty well, and you have also seen that it gives your boss money, so why don't you do all that yourself? Start a business.

I pretty much left him open mouthed since he couldn't find anything good to say.

I also know that he won't do that, since he is the same as his five best friends, negative agains't new ideas and if he goes public with his plan to start his own business he'll be pretty much shot down.

"What do you know about starting a business? Give me a break!"

So tell me, what is the point of being mr. or mrs. negative? Wouldn't it be better if you would try to be supportive instead?

No, I've made it a point to be negative all the time. That way, when things actually do go my way, I'm happy.

To me negativity is just a point of view. Same as being supportive.

If I tell a friend what I think could go wrong about what he/she is about to venture into, then I'm being supportive in my own way.

Constructive criticism is what it amounts to, and that itself could possibly amount to aversion of an unsavory situation.

This is basicly what I tried to say.

It's all about being positive.

People always hate others who are happy, and will try to take you down with them. Misery loves company........

In my short life I have become convinced with 100% certainty that it is what you make it. Outlook is everything, it really is. Being grateful is a good starting point. I go round and round with my best friend about gratefulness. He says he is, but I can't believe anybody as unhappy as he is, can really be that thankful at the same time. The two go hand and hand. No person can be content with life without being grateful for what they have at the same time.

I think it's all you fault, you should choose better your friends 
On a serious note, Negativism is always something I don't care about how you recognize it? easy when people is saying something that can't help you at all, like making fun of your clothes or claiming useless sentences just to make them feel better than you is a common factor that this person is saying something to put you down. Don't pay attention to that and don't try to argue with him, remember you are better than that, keep him talking like you don't care
