Gary Graff of Billboard.com reports: DEF LEPPARD is "about 85, 90 percent finished" with its next album, which frontman Joe Elliott describes as "a very rock album" tentatively titled "Songs from the Sparkle Lounge".
"I'm not gonna say it's radically different to anything we've ever done," Elliott tells Billboard.com. "There's classic DEF LEPPARD. There's stuff that sounds like it's going back to the middle, late-'70s AC/DC and new wave-type sounding stuff. There's definitely some moments on it where anybody that's familiar with our music will go, 'Whoa! I wasn't expecting that!' We've just been very adventurous, musically, on certain numbers."
Elliott says the "Sparkle Lounge" album title refers to a room the group maintained backstage during its 2006 tour dates, where the musicians would congregate with co-producer and live sound technician Ronan McHugh to work up and record ideas.

Say what??
It doesn't sound as "rock" as, say, "Pyromania".

What is so bad about going back and making another High n' Dry or Hysteria type album? Stick to what you're good at. I like "X" even though it was a little too distant.
They havn't put out a bad album IMO. Every album is 4-6 strong songs.

Oh wow, Def Leppard is going back to their roots for a rocking new album...
The magic eight-ball says their new album will suck big fat moose cock just like everything they have done from the 90s on up.

I dug out High'n Dry a while back, its easy to forget how many great tunes that album contains - the 'Rock of Ages' 'best-of' really reminded me about that album (and on the subject, Rock of Ages has probably the best tracklist of a 'Best of' that i've ever seen)
..its a shame they dont squeeze in a few more High n' dry songs into their set lists every once in a while...

I have vault and opted not to buy the rock of ages...
they didn't include good songs from Slang and Euphoria on it...
I thinkt he only songs from those albums was promises, slang, and workin it out
Slang has Blood Runs Cold, and "All I want is everything" which is one of my fav songs by them...
it wasn't a truly best of... I don't think anyways.... dissapointed...

glad u liked the songs - but not even the band defend Slag and Euphoria. That any of the songs from those albums was included on ROA was surely done as a token gesture

Jimmy Kimmel cancelled his shows because he had an emergency appendectomy the morning Def Leppard was set to appear. Ease up.

I thought Euphoria was good.
I just wish, that since they are in fact an english band, they'd do more shows in England. Instead of sucking Americas cock all the time. theyr playin two shows in england this year. which, tbh, is a bit shit.

I would like to see Leppard do another album like Slang. That imo is far and away there best work to date. I was kinda exctied about this new album until i read Mutt Lange may work on a few songs. Which basically means overproduced garbage. His last work with the band on Euphoria produced the worst tracks on the album minus Promises which was ok but went back to the 80's style. I thought Euphoria was a huge step backwards after Slang. I keep hearing this album is rock but that is said up until every new Leppard release. One thing about Leppard though is they always deliver live. One of the best live bands out there. All of those guys are great singers.

If there is one band that needs to call it a day, it's Def Leppard, IMHO. Just stop...please...you suck. You have sucked for years....
I do feel bad for Rick Allen though, he can not feel the buttocks of a woman with both hands, and he may scrape the buttocks if he tries to touch them with his hook.
