lol you call def leppard cheese when you like one of the original cheese icons, the beach boys....
I think you should possibly give up ever trying to have any sort of musical taste, and any dreams you have of being some form of musician.
im sorry. But ill dream to be what the hell i want, just because you disagree doesnt mean i should stop for you. Your just some random guy on the internet, who is notorious for being one the moodiest and annoying moderators on this forum.

I wouldn't take it too personally. He was just trying to point out how little you know about the Beach Boys.
Seriously, go buy Pet Sounds. Download it if you must. If you think they're "cheesy," this album will blow you away.
Then buy Smile by Brian Wilson, which was their 40-year project which fell apart when he had a nervous breakdown brought on by his drug use and tension in the band - the other members didn't like his musical direction, they refused to perform the songs, the band broke apart and he became a recluse for decades.
Sound familiar?

It wasn't how little he knows about the Beach Boys.
I don't like all their stuff, nor do I like all of the Beatles'.
It doesn't mean I don't appreciate just how good their musicianship is. But I guess they don't have stupid haircuts and funny names so they're not cool.

so does he listen to all the death metal walk does then?
There are some bands we both like, such as Agalloch
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-7DaBOYk84
, Symphony X, Atheist and Death. Then there are also tons of bands he listens to and I've never even heard of. Since you asked.

i find it funny him criticising motley crue, when they practically were the birth of it...they had satanic lyrics in some songs before most bands.
Like Jarmo said, maybe you should check out Venom. Additionally, your assumption of death metal containing satanic lyrics by default is dead wrong. Come think of it, I may own about two or three CD's altogether with satanic "content"
Quote from: mrlee on March 10, 2007, 05:43:12 AM
Also, whats so good about death metal, load of distorted guitars, double pedals, random man screaming and grunting bout how he and his cult need to burn the churches down in finland, blah blah....
1) You don't know what death metal is. You're confusing it with black metal.
2) You are confusing Finland with Norway and its black metal scene in the early 90s (heh, were you even born yet?).
3) You've heard some death/black metal, and now you're generalizing it to match an entire genre. You don't know what you're talking about.
Quote from: mrlee on March 10, 2007, 07:09:51 AM
not really....just check out half the stupid bands from finland....
half of them dont even really believe in satan, just a marketing gimmic.
What the hell are you even talking about? I'd be very interested in seeing you list some of those bands, just to make sure we're on the same page here...

Hey - this thread is for Def Leppard, now if you hate Def Leppard thats cool, hell i'll buy you a pint - but keep it to another thread?
Now all music is opinion, and i'm sure The Beach Boys are a really fantastic band - but for the life of me I cant see what the fuss is about, songs about surfing? Ye gods! Pretty sure they invented cheese!

^How many times have you posted on a thread started by Walk, saying the music is shit etc. without even hearing it? Alright, maybe it was merited when it came to the "white pride" stuff, but he's made threads about some good bands as well.
Just saying you are the last person in this forum who should whine about the stuff above.

Songs about surfing? You should really listen to Pet Sounds.

I may not always love you
But long as there are stars above you
You never need to doubt it
I'll make you so sure about it
God only knows what I'd be without you
If you should ever leave me
Though life would still go on, believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would livin' do me
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
(repeat verse 2)
If you should ever leave me
Though life would still go on, believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would livin' do me
God only knows what I'd be without you (repeat to fade)
Quote
I had to prove that I could make it alone
But that's not me
I wanted to show how independent I'd grown now
But that's not me
I could try to be big in the eyes of the world
What matters to me is what I could be to just one girl
I'm a little bit scared
Cause I haven't been home in a long time
You needed my love
And I know that I left at the wrong time
My folks when I wrote them
Told 'em what I was up to said that's not me
I went through all kinds of changes
Took a look at myself and said that's not me
I miss my pad and the places I've known
And every night as I lay there alone I will dream
I once had a dream
So I packed up and split for the city
I soon found out that my lonely life wasn't so pretty
I'm glad I went now I'm that much more sure that we're ready
I once had a dream
So I packed up and split for the city

Schmaltzy? Yeah. But I like the sound and the harmony and the lyrics - I don't know why it isn't more popular. It's not even in their top twenty on last.fm (or at least it wasn't last time I checked).

snap - its all about that riff, what a start to an album!
as for the Leppard site - go for it! Leppard need a good home (waits for all the jokes - 'er yeah, the retirement home!', '1, Bargain Basement Road')
Run Riot is a close second for me

Not sure really - all I know is that it made their Best Of (the original single disc version), which is their only album I own. I've listened to others, but I only own the Best Of.
