lol the people here wont be pleased with that then if it sounds like slang. I dont mind slang but id like them to return to the sound of there glory days. Guess its hard without steve.
It doesnt sound like Slang, the production is alot more organic like Slang but the songs are typical Leppard sounding sounds with out the bombastic drums etc.
I for one hope they never go back to the sound of there glory days, well they tried on Euphoria and minus Paper Sun and Day After Day it was awful, especially the songs Mutt Lange had his hand in, those were the worst tracks on the album. I say move on it is 2008 not 1987.
The band created a classic sound, which they used up until about 1994. Thats the sound they should strive to use, sure experiment a bit but dont fuck around with it cause its the def leppard most people know and love.

Well, heard the Rockline interview, and seven full songs (clips of the others).
Definitely an awesome album, but closer to Slang than Hysteria. Sounds awesome to me, but not sure what those wanting Hysteria II will make of it.

Early Def Leppard was the best stuff IMO.
Wasted, Bringing on the Heartbreak/Switch 625....
Liked Slang a lot...not given the credit it deserves.

managed to get the radio recording. The songs have that typical Def Leppard big chorus's which is great. The verses are more like def leppard meets 70s psychedelic feel. Im digging the ones im hearing so far im half way through the broadcast.
id say nine lives, hallucinate and bad actress are the best ones i heard out of the others.

Amazing.
Indeed
what i never understand is they tour all the time..and yet don't seme to have the wealth your typical throw away rap star has
They must be rolling in money from all those ticket sales....
..shame they aren't playing 'women' live anymore

Yeah, they played "Women" a couple years ago when I saw them. Great song. You can't get'em all I guess.

I know. Haven't seen them play "Women" for about 3-4 years now. It's a powerhouse when played live.

This new album is imo Def Leppard's most inspired effort in years. I just listened to some of the tracks from the rockline interview. As i posted awhile back i was lucky enough to hear 'Hallucinate' and 'Cruise Control' via a friend who works for the local alt. rock station. This is the album that they should have followed 'Slang' up with, instead of going back to the glossy production we saw on 'Euphoria'.
I think they finally have got it right on this one with production, a 'Slang' sorta production but the songs have the signature Leppard hooks, etc. One thing they have going for them on this one, is that they are getting some support from the Modern Rock stations, from what i have been told and take this how you will but apparently 'Go' or 'Cruise Control' is gonna be released as a radio only single in a month or so aimed directly at "Alternative" or Modern Rock stations. I heard this directly from the program director at our local mod. rock station at which my friend works for. Time will tell but if they get a modern rock hit imo this is what they need. Maybe they could go out with a current band instead of these nostalgia packages.
On a side note does anyone think 'Bad Actress' has a VR vibe going on ? A poster at the Leppard OS mentioned that and i just went back and listened to the song and i could not agree more with his or her comparison to 'Dirty Little Thing'. Spot On.

The new stuff sounds great-I've been disappointed with their last few albums.

Yeah I thought that as well when it was mentioned.
I am really, really trying not to be too exuberant about this CD, but it just sounds so fucking awesome from what I have heard so far. Interesting comment on Go and Cruise Control. I am looking forward to hearing those in HQ too.

Saw Def last night at Mohegan. They were quite good, as always. Same setlist as posted earlier, which is a great thing. I was one of the selected few who actually knew "Nine Lives". Most people took a breather during that one. I thought it sounded great live though. These guys just keep on touring, they're something else.
