I bough the DVD, I think this is one of my favourite movie. I saw it years ago but i decided to buy the DVD, there are 2 DVD in a box set, with a? making-of etc... The soundtrack sounds killer! "Danger Zone", "Take My Breath away", "Top Gun Theme"... ok
That movie Rocks.

The first few days of my honeymoon ealier this month were spent in Southern California. I got on the wrong highway on our way from San Diego to L.A., and I had to turn around at Mirimar (the Fighter Base from the movie). It's funny the runway is almost right up against the highway......

I wanted to ditch my rental car and find a 1986 Kawasaki Ninja just so I could race down the access road while a Jet took off............ Then my wife slaped my in the back of the head and told me to find the right highway.

There's a really rockin' Cheap Trick song on the soundtrack as well - "Mighty Wings". ?I can't stand "Take My Breath Away".

I think that Top Gun was possibly one of the most homoerotic movies ever made, and for proof I offer you the example of this one scene, where all the Navy pilots are shirtless, oiled-up, and playing beach volleyball, while a song called "Playing With The Boys" goes on over the soundtrack. ?In addition, Maverick is late for his date with a woman because of this very game! ?Case closed.

Seriously, though, I always thought that movie was overrated. ?It's pretty damn boring.

Yeah, I believe Cocktail is probably better.

AND a better soundtrack

Did you know Judas Priest's song Reckless was supposed to be the theme song to that movie instead of that silly Van Halen song? Reckless is clearly the superior song, but Judas Priest insisted on keeping that awesome song on their worst album.  no

"Cocktail" is great too. I love those mid-late 80's adventure movies. There was also Idiana Jones at that time, and ghosbosters etc... plus all the stallone and Scharzenegger movies (Terminator, predator, Rocky 4 etc...). ?The 80's were great for action/adventure movies.

Check out this guide to 80s movies, funny as hell:

Top Gun is a really fun, enjoyable movie with some of the corniest dialogue ever written.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maverick: When I fly, I'll have you know that my crew and my plane come first.
Charlie: Well, I am going to finish my sentence, Lieutenant. My review of your flight performance was right on.
Maverick: Is that right?
Charlie: That is right, but I held something back. I see some real genius in your flying, Maverick, but I can't say that in there. I was afraid that everyone in the tax trailer would see right through me, and I just don't want anyone to know that I've fallen for you.

Tom Cruise is really young on that movie. He has a kind of teenager face when you watch the movie. How old was he? 21? 22? Even Val Kilmer looks really young. I can't belive the film was released 20 years ago... it seems like yesterday for me.

Good bit of 80s cheese. The spoof is pretty damn good to though Hot Shots with the awesome Charlie Sheen.

To a certain extent, This is a very Rock n' Roll movie. In the making-of, they explain it's almost a Rockstar movie.
