I will agree with your second assertion.

Coldplay is to U2 is what Oasis is to the Beatles.

Actually, Coldplay is to The Verve as what Oasis is to...

Bah....I don't need some poll to know what I believe to be true - that being, Axl is one of the greatest singer/songwriters to ever grace the pop world. ok

Dylan is the greatest songwriter of all time. Saying otherwise makes a man a fool. But of course you are entitled to your utterly wrong insignificant opinion.

I love how absolutely no-one has tried to argue that point! Dylan is indeed the ultimate songwriter.

Before all my posts about subjective matters there should be an IMO before the post. I took this sig down but of course it has to go back up.

Waters is great but NOTHING compared to the man at number 1.

I never said other wise - i said a list without Waters included is all but meaningless, where Waters comes on that top 10 wasn't something i speculated....

If it were solely on lyric writing the list should be shifted.

I'd rank a totally different lyricist first than Dylan or Lennon.  Tongue

Definitely just you! hihi Those two aren't even remotely in the ballpark with Dylan. Beck is a complete knockoff of Sir Bob-lyrically. It is certainly acceptable to like someone's style over others, but objectively speaking, no way! As for Mr. Rose being in the top ten songwriters of all time-hell fuckin' no. Not enough true masterpieces and not enough catalog-just like Cobain (who I wouldn't put in the top ten either).? Roll Eyes I still luv ya PPBEBE but I'm sure you are young and have yet to tap in to Dylan's full catalog. Kiss

Saying Bob Dylan is the greatest is completely subjective. Do I think he's the greatest? hell no! What do these stupid polls mean in the real world anyway? NOTHING WHATSOEVER!

where did Prince come in at that list?

If he isnt top 3 that list is flawed and it sucks

No other artist is as prolific as that man is and can write every single instrument the way he can.

Well, that's your opinion and you're entitiled to it. I just really cannot see who can even rank to Dylan as fair as Cultural Context, Political context, and overall great songwriting is concerned, except maybe Lennon.

Not sure if Prince is considered a "rock" songwriter D.

Plus I take the sounds of the words/a ring in them and lyricism into account. +
maybe the sense of humour sometimes.

Well Ok I'll try Dylan n Lennon solo. Angry
