Oh, puh-lease....

Nero was totally nuts, had a sexual thing going on for his mum and set his own city on fucking fire while he watched from the sidelines. And you want to compare him to Axl?

As for Henry VIII and Louis XVI, sorry I can't see it.

Seriously, there's no one in your list that reminds me of Axl and I can't think of anyone else either in distant or recent history.

Axl is his own, and that's why he's so interesting.

I have said this before but I really mean it this time, this has to be the stupidest thread ever.  C'mon Nixon, get a life.  Oh wait, what kind of food does Axl remind you of?  If Axl were a dog what kind would he be?  If Axl were a stae which one would he be?  If Axl were to read this he would probably delay CD even longer because just like the rest of us he would be dumber for having read this!

Stanley Kubrick.

Captain William Bligh.

I REALLY want to say Captain Ahab, but you said historical, not fictional.

Kubrick.   no doubt.    both reclusive, both perfectionists.       although i consider Axl brilliant,

Kubrick was the true genious.    the most brilliant filmmaker ever.   better than Hitchcock, Bergman and no doubt Spielberg.

What about the infamous show where James Hetfield burned himself and then the riot...Some members of Metallica said it was like watching the fall of Rome.

This post wasn't meant as a diss to Axl, really. Just something for shits and giggles while we wait for "Chinese Democracy."

I've never heard that comment from Metallica but if it's true it has to be the most idiotic thing they ever said.

I know this isn't supposed to be a terribly serious thread, but really, what common points does Axl have with Nero? And Louis the XVIth? Please enlighten me.

I think Metallica said that on the VH1 behind the music show. I think Axl and Nero are both kinda crazy and decedent. Louis XVIth? Gee, I don't know, I just threw that one out there...Just a joke thread really. But I am hoping some people could think up some examples.

RichardNixon,

It looks like you're taking alot of heat for this thread.  Let me tell you something, I like it!

Axl's multi-faceted and can be compared in some way, shape, or form to all the above.

How about Michael Jordan?  Announced retirement on 10/6/93....Activated from retirement on 3/18/95....Announced retirement on 1/13/99....Activated from retirement on 9/25/01....Retired 2 years later.
Axl took the long break performing between '93 or '94 to '00 or '01, then stopped again in late '02, only to resume in..................................HuhHuhHuhHuh?
M.J. was still dropping 20 points per game as a 40 year-old.  I expect no less from Axl.

PS  From what I know about Howard Hughes, how could anyone argue with some of the striking similarities?   peace
