Nirvana Sucks

Quote
The Gak was the improvised name for a band which featured James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich from Metallica, Axl Rose, Duff McKagan and Slash from Guns N' Roses, and Sebastian Bach from Skid Row. They played at a party held at Hollywood Palladium in 1990 for RIP Magazine, prior to Metallica and Guns N' Roses touring together in 1992 on the "Live N' Loud" Tour.

Has anyone ever heard of that? I've be a frequent of all the Gn'r forums for awhile, and have yet to hear of it. Anyone know if any bootlegs were scrapped up from it?

The show that the article mentions is the only show they played together. There's a video bootleg of it in circulation.

That was a great show! I used to have a videotape of it in the mid 90's. Axl sings the Skid Row song 'Piece of Me', Sebastian Bach sings 'You're Crazy', and then they all do Metallica's 'For Whom The Bell Tolls'.

They also do Hair of the Dog with Axl and Sebastian both on vocals, and Sebastian takes a shot at Whiplash but doesn't know the words so James does it right the second time.

My videotape didn't have Hair of the Dog. Interesting. I remember Whiplash now. After Bach does it, Lars goes up to the microphone and says something like,"wait a minute, lets do this right". Too bad this kind of stuff doesn't happen anymore.

Ooh, please do. Sounds amazing. And anyway, there is a jam band doing stuff like that these days - Camp Freddy. Doubt they'd get Axl up there, somehow... Smiley

Yes, thanks a lot!

Definitely a hidden gem!  I like how much energy Axl has for that show - he seems to be having fun.

Am I the only one who thinks this?  But the first song Axl does... doesn't he sound a lot like the "Oh My God"  Axl?  Just something I thought right off the bat.

Thanks, neemo!

Haha, Look at this guy romping about and then diving into the crowd twice! Nuts! Grin

Maybe this is when he got the idea of having a school of guitarists in a band.
