I know everyone is "blog" bashing here... but one of the interesting things is that soldiers away at war (sorry for bringing THIS into it) are allowed to write blogs. They use it as a way to stay in touch with their family/girlfriends while they are in Iraq and also provide descriptions of what is actually going on down on the floor over there. That's kind of an interesting way to let everyone know you are alright, and give a soldier's view of the war.
However, Joe Shmoe from down the block can shove his blog up his butt.
