i have a 7 hours ( Embarrassed ) layover at JFK new york on october 3rd before my other flight, can i leave the airport ?

I'm pretty sure you can. I think that as long as you're back before your next flight leaves you should be ok.

Yes, you can, but you'll need to go through security again to get back to your gate...so plan time accordingly.  I'd give yourself a good 90 minutes, just in case.

Also, with that kind of layover, the first thing I'd do is hit the main ticket desk/check in area in the layover city to see if there is room on an earlier flight.  I've had layovers like that a couple times before and both times they were able to get me standby on an earlier flight...  You'll have much better luck with doing that if the flights are domestic.  If you're traveling internationally...well...chances are you're stuck with the 7 hour layover (YUCK!)

Exactly if you travel iternationaly the rules changed and have to stuck in the airport it sucks  no
Last year I spent 4 hours in Panama doing nothing but shoping cameras and stuuf they are all cheap  Smiley

well i'm coming from Paris but i then i just go to Charlotte, NC ... so it's domestic, but i guess i'll try to get an earlier flight ....
