Matt's hurricane relief efforts

While hosting Camp Freddy radio with Billy Morrison and Billy Duffy last night as part of Indie 103.1's hurricane relief programming, Matt ponied up a "full service weekend" in Vegas as his guest.? Activities include The Killers show at the Hard Rock, a Motley show, VIP treatment all the way around at the Hard Rock Hotel and hanging out with Sorum and all the perks that might involve.? To top it off, Matt even offered to fly the winning bidder at his own personal expense.
The whole thing ended up going for $2600.?
Matt also donated bass drum heads from VR, The Cult, Camp Freddy and some signature sticks from his GNR days.? I believe the winning bid was $850..
Though it's not a lot of money in the big scheme of things, every dollar does in fact help.? It's cool to see Matt going above and beyond writing a check and giving up his personal time to help the cause as well.
On top of that, it sounds like a helluva weekend for the lucky winner..

What Matt is doin is great and all but I don't think $2600 would pay for flights, concert tickets and a hotel stay. Should he not of just given the money he spent on the winners' flight expenses etc. directly to the cause?

Maybe he doubted the money would go where it should if he did ?
Dunno, but when there are tragedies, there are also people taking advantage and some ( if not a lot) of the money never arrives...
