I've never heard this mentioned around here, so I figure I'd try this to see if any of you guys have any info on this.  I downloaded a cover of the Beatles' Come Together on which Axl and Bruce Springsteen sing dual vocals on.  Has anyone else ever heard this song, and does anyone have any info about it (like who else plays on it, when it was recorded, and why it was recorded.)  Its been bugging me for a while.

January 20th, 1994 - Axl appears at the induction of his musical inspiration, Elton John, into the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame. Later that night, Axl performs Come Together with Bruce Springsteen. This would be Axl's last public appearance until the arrest in Phoenix on February 11th, 1998.

I heard it was a last minute thing, it wasn`t a planned performance.

They didn't do a very good job, but it still is amazing to see the two of them on the same stage. Wish they would have rehearsed!

Rod Stewart and Elton John were meant to be doing it, then Rod Stewart couldn't make it I believe.

More info about this:

01.20.94 - Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, New York, NY
set: Come Together
audio/video recording?: audio, video [pro-shot]
notes: Axl joins Bruce Springsteen for this song at the 1994 Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony. From Brucebase - This duet was originally scheduled/planned for Rod Stewart and Elton John. Rod Stewart didn't make the event because of the earthquake in Los Angeles shortly before the event. As Bob Weir/John Popper and others peformed on stage, the production personnel approached Bruce with the lyrics to Come Together. Bruce politely refused, repeatedly. The producers then approached Axl Rose who was at the next table over. Axl agreed and then pulled up a chair next to Bruce. After a minute or two of conversation, Axl put the lyrics on the table and Bruce and Axl hovered over the paper for a few minutes. As Bob Weir/John Popper et al left the stage, Bruce and Axl simply got up, walked onto the stage and rocked. No rehearsal. No practice. Amazing to witness.

Thanks a lot everybody, I was really curious about that recording, and now I know.  Very cool to see two of my absolute favorite artists on the same stage.  It wasn't a great performance, but still very cool.

You're welcome! Wink

I actually think that performance was pretty cool, when you read the whole story behind it. I mean no rehearsal, no practice, of course it's not perfect, but it's pretty damn good if you ask me.

I agree!! Never thought in a million years that we would see the two of them on the same stage. Cool to find out it was Axl that pushed the idea!! ok

Thank you Jarmo.? Why Come Together...and why with Bruce?? Interesting stuff.

If I remember correctly that was the year John Lennon was inducted as a solo performer. Either that or he received a special honor. Come Together was one of John's songs, so they probably did it to honor him. Why Bruce? I don't know. Two big stars I guess. Before it became a VH1 event, the HOF ceremony used to be industry only and very informal. It wasn't unusual for these impromptu jams with unlikely pairings.
