The MSG'02 show might be the last Axl show ever...I hope not, but this is a possibility.

3) Most interesting - he claims Axl was indeed in Philly for the final show of their botched 2002 tour, not in NY as many claim.? Now get ready for this: Claims that Axl saw some woman in the audience he wanted brought backstage, like in the ol' days.? Only the woman was married or something and refused.? Axl threw a fit and left the arena.? Sounds pretty amazing to me but again, the guy knew what he was talking about and his bro works for the band.

Figured I'd pass it along to the board.?

That really doesn't sound like something Axl would do.  But the dudes from CKY did say Axl was there during their set, so who knows?  If something that petty cost me my only chance to see Axl I'm quite pissed.  He better have a better reason than that.

The point i'd like to make is that GN'R would have been afforded a creative misstep or two, several years ago.?

They had established themselves as a global force that could transcend genres and fads. Fans and the public at large would have forgiven them if they'd put out an album not as strong as it's predecessors..

I fear that luxury won't be afforded now given the ridiculous length of time Axl has made his fans wait and wait in the dark at that.

Hence CD really is 'all or nothing'.
hihi

Care to elaborate/contribute something to the discussion??

i wonder if any of the older songs that didn't make it (perhaps from an older "interation" of the album) would make it on a bsides disc.. i seem to recall Axl talking about a disc of b-sides at a show on the 2002 tour...

I have a friend who was one of GNR's lighting tech's on the last tour and he told me the same thing about philly. That axl wanted this chick to come back stage and it didn't happen so he stormed out. I posted the same thing about a year ago.... no one believed me though... but that's what i heard about philly too.

Certainly makes it more plausible, huh?  Again - the guy I was hangin' with was simply relating to me stories his brother told him about his days working in rock. His bro has worked with tons of bands since the 80s.  He told me many other interesting stories about other bands.  Of course, being a GnR fan, the GnR ones were most interesting to me.  This was not a case of a brother's friend's uncles, neighbor's former roommate.  This was the guy's brother that works for the band.  Now you talk about a friend who was a lighting tech and have the same story.  Either the band's employees came up with a crazy story, or it's very possibly true.  Is this any stranger than the stories that came out after '02 that Axl threw a fit outside a club in NY when he was supposedly rejected for wearing fur or something?
