Ch. Democracy will be out when China's a Democracy

Take this how you want.  I'm just relaying what I learned.  It sounds plausible and the guy who told me certainly had no reason to make it up, nor do I.

Anyway, last night I was at a bar with a group of people.  On of them has a brother who is currently works for GnR.  He's been a roadie and other things for the band for a long time.  In any event, the GnR roadie told his brother 3 interesting things that I'll pass along.

1) CD has gone through 3 complete iterations.  The first was completed and then scrapped.  The second was also basically finished and scrapped even though there was enough material for 2 albums.  Each time the material was scrapped because it was felt (dont' know by who) that the stuff wasn't current with today's music.  GnR is now working on what is basically round 3.

2) The guy said his brother was working with GnR as recently as 2 weeks ago in the studio and they were rehearsing things.  I guess this bodes well. Didn't say who was rehearsing.

3) Most interesting - he claims Axl was indeed in Philly for the final show of their botched 2002 tour, not in NY as many claim.  Now get ready for this: Claims that Axl saw some woman in the audience he wanted brought backstage, like in the ol' days.  Only the woman was married or something and refused.  Axl threw a fit and left the arena.  Sounds pretty amazing to me but again, the guy knew what he was talking about and his bro works for the band.

Figured I'd pass it along to the board.

wow...was Appetite current with 1987's music? was Nevermind current with the 1991's music? No they werent, and that's why they were so successfull. If it's true, I hope CD won't sound like fucking nu-metal after 12145148 remixes! A great album is a great album and that's it.

thats true
it actually is heartening to think that CD is being encouraged as a timeless album, non-specific to genre or era

Iterations are good for rock n roll.

I think the rumor is bullshit. The first album that was ike oh my god, riyadh and silkworms was scrapped since that is the album they made with Freese, Finck and Tobais, but I find it hard to  believe if gnr did infact finish the album a 2nd time in 2002 or 2003 that interscope would not just keep it and release it .  If there really was two albums worth they would have just taken the 15 best and made it CD.  Esp with the last line, I think its all bullshit.

I have a friend who was one of GNR's lighting tech's on the last tour and he told me the same thing about philly. That axl wanted this chick to come back stage and it didn't happen so he stormed out. I posted the same thing about a year ago.... no one believed me though... but that's what i heard about philly too.

The point i'd like to make is that GN'R would have been afforded a creative misstep or two, several years ago.?

They had established themselves as a global force that could transcend genres and fads. Fans and the public at large would have forgiven them if they'd put out an album not as strong as it's predecessors..

I fear that luxury won't be afforded now given the ridiculous length of time Axl has made his fans wait and wait in the dark at that.

Hence CD really is 'all or nothing'.

for fuck sake!!! give the guy a break. He tries to tell you something that may be true and the majority jump on him.

If i ever am in the position to pass on news, then i dont think i will bother. I actually spent time with people that genuinly did work for gn'r back in the day and the chat was interesting, and as informative as it could be. This was back in 2002, 3 months before the euro tour, while i spent some time in la.

If you dont wanna believe him, keep it to yourself.

If it is true, then Axl is even more volatile than we ever expected, which does not augur well for long-suffering fans.
