Here Today...

Josh Freese left GNR in 2000 to work on a number of projects which included playing drums on the latest Offspring album "Splinter".  Not long after that, the band announced that the CD would be called Chinese Democracy...

Does anyone think that this was perhaps an inside joke between Freese and The Offspring?

Dexter Holland:  "We joked in the studio about calling it Appetiser For Destruction and then Chinese Democracy cos it's taken so long to do," explains Holland. "But somehow it leaked out. The rumour is Axl got his lawyers involved, but I haven't heard from 'em, so I don't think it's true."

I think Josh Freese mentioned APC was originally set to be in on the joke, making remarks about Mer De Noms being released as CD. Then Axl would have had Offspring and APC battling over his album title!  rofl

Yeah it may have been kinda funny if that Dexter fuck hadn't have come out with lame ass comments like 'Axl ripped off my braids, so I ripped off his album title'. That just makes him sound like a dick,trying to look clever but failing. I hate offspring though, they are the biggest bunch of punk/pop sellouts ever.

It was only joke but there was many versions of why they called Chinese Democracy.
Once they said they will call it Chinese Democracy: You snooze, you lose! Grin, the other version was:"Axl stole my hair-style, I'll stole their title of the album!" and once they said how grateful to Josh that he helped on the album so they will call Chinese Democracy in Josh's honour.

Love rock and roll with all your heart, just don't ever get to the point that Axl Rose seems to sadly be at where you stand to get sued for even thinking the words 'Chinese Democracy' without his permission. Thats not rock and roll, thats just fucking stupid.
