It's better to burn out than to fade away...

« on: August 07, 2005, 01:53:46 AM »

So I heard that Topher Grace and Ashton Kutcher have both left That 70s Show to focus on their film careers.  As a result, one would assume that the show had ended its run because Eric Forman is essentially the focal point of the show.  But I had heard that the show might continue without them.  Does anyone know what the real story is here?  Is That 70s Show going to continue next season?

Ive heard that Topher might have left, heard nothing about Ashton though.
I think they have started shooting the 8th seson now, it will air in 2005/2006.
Im guessing it will be the last season since they've already been in 1979 for a few years, they've even had christmas of 1979 on the show at least twice! lol.
Eric Foreman went to Africa for a year in the last episode of the 7th season, so one might assume he won't be there for the 8th season, and that sucks.

Thanks, Hillel...that's a lot of interesting info.  My only question is, how can the show go on without Eric?  I mean, he's the main character - everybody hangs out in his house, his parents are always around, etc.  If the show goes on, it'll be interesting, but probably not as good.  Forman was definitely my favourite character, the one that was closest to my personality.

there was a new character on the last few episodes of the 7th season, Charlie or something. son of an old buddy of Red. maybe he'll take over for Eric. won't be as good as it was though!
I'll say my Hyde is closest to my personality..hehe.

they'll probably start airing the 8th seson within the next month or two, so I guess we'll see what's up!

I love the show, but I think it may have jumped the shark at this point.

I have to agree with you  drool
Also I forgot to say, did I dream or there was an episode where people were in the future (the 80's)  and people got afraid??  or something like that?

Nothing to do with that 70's show can survive without canned laughter. If it wasn't for someone guy
pushing a buttong every ten seconds nobody would laugh at it.

There might be...I know that there was a brief spin-off called That 80s Show that detailed the adventures of Eric's cousin and her friends in the 80s, but it wasn't very successful.

I'm not sure if people are aware of the story much outside of Canada (Mattman might find this interesting), but Donna is starring in a new movie called "Karla" (or maybe "Deadly"? One of the two titles was rejected) as Karla Holmolka.  THAT should be interesting to watch...
